Bangkok To Ho Chi Minh

Featured Replies

Looking at getting a flight over to HCM for a weeks travelling around.

I have been quoted over 11000 baht by Thai and 9000 baht with Air France. Anyone know of any other deals or airlines i could try for a cheaper fare.

Looking at going next week about 26th Jan to 1st Feb although flexible a day or two either side. Thanks in advance.

the only other airine is of course VN-air. usually same deal as TG, it was simple codeshare in the past. AF is the big 747 from paris, comes back in KK around midnight. Or try out what you see in any pop=up, Thaivsa's ''own'' travel agent!

NO low=costs on this route, NOK and airasia fly to Hanoi.

with TET=the VN nw yr coming up (=same dates as Chin Nw yr), expect full planes and no low fares

The cheapest way to get to Ho Chi Minh if coming from europe is to book on a carrier who flies a route similar to LHR-BKK-SGN (SGN being Saigon / Ho Chi Minh).

Before I came to live in Thailand, I often flew that route on Thai Airways and on occassion, the route was cheaper than just going to Bangkok itself. You could break the flight both ways and I have actually not even bothered with the SGN leg. Usually ok if you tell the airline otherwise they might cancel your ticket back to the UK.

sorry for this update/correction:

it seems that PACIFIC airlines has recently also started this route, its owned by VN-air (i.e. the ''state'') but a lower-cost branch. If you cannot book online, simply use, as always, a Thai agent.

what #2 above says is in fact AF; LH also used to do this for 1 yr or so, but thats no more.

Luftansa fly....problem with both Luftansa and Air France is the scheduling. TG is the best, but if you don't have late hotel (check out) problems, then a late departure wont bother you.

Pacific Air is not really a budget airline like Nok or Air Asia and in December was more expensive that flying Air France.

Thats interesting, sorry I don't mean to hijack the thread.

You mean you told them in BKK at the Thai desk that you were not going to continue on to SGN, and that sorted it?

I have noticed that lots of flights via (substitute your destination) are actually cheaper than flying to (substitute your destination)

$300 Return is about par for the course on that route, same BKK-DAD (Da Nang). Tet is 6th February and mainly affects domestic routes but expect inbound international around 1st/2nd to be busy.
