Thai-Russian brawl leads to 7 arrests

Police confiscate two foot-long knifes

PATTAYA: -- Police broke up a street brawl involving 7 Thais and 7 Russian men in South Pattaya early Friday morning. Both groups were armed with knives and lumps of wood, and were chasing each other around Sois Pattayaland 1, 2, 3. The group scattered when police arrived, but police were able to detain 3 Thai men and 4 Russians. Two long knives were also confiscated in the process.

Boonlet Inthasom, 23, confessed to owning the foot long knives and was fined the princely sum of 100 baht on each count. The other two Thai men, Aphichet Soypornmaharach, 31, and Saiy Saenghuachang, 32, denied all charges of being the cause of the brawl and told police they saw the foreigners beating a Thai.

“As Thai people we need to take care of our own and when we saw the farangs beating and kicking another Thai we decided to help,” said Saiy. The other four Thais fled when police arrived, including the victim.

Police charged the 3 Thai men with assault and battery. All three denied the charges.

The four Russians captured in the melee refused to give any details or even speak to police and sat quietly through their stay in Pattaya police station.

don't take it personal. When I first started on this forum I used to get pissed off at all the guys throwing their BS comments about americans,especially when it did not relate to the topic. I even stopped reading thaivisa for a while. But now as soon as I see some ignorant comment I just pass over it and stop reading that post. I don't need to get pissed at some putz acting brave by talking crap and hiding behind the internet. School kids can do what they are doing and by some of their comments I would not be surprised if they were school kids playing on mommy pc. In my experience not to many people will american bash to your face.

I know America is not perfect and with all of the American bashing why is it that their are so many people (especially thai) trying to move here?

Anyway, back to the thread.........I was saying that Russian guys can be dodgy because I sometimes hang out at the "Russian" lounges and Bars over in Brighton Beach in Brooklyn.....Lots of really Hot Women there, by the way! But not a very good place to get into a fight... Well, I once saw these Russian guys beat the crap out of this Italian guy outside one place, and it was four against one! I do know why they were beating him up, I didn't ask...My Ukrainian friend that was with me just told me just don't look at them and we walked the other way...

But who knows in this case in Thailand.....According to the article, the Russian guys aren't talking....

He's not racist, he's just old school hockey. And most of his generalisations have a baisis in reality: Russians for the most part are timid when it comes to going in the corners or for crying murder when they get hit hard legitmately; he also says the same about European and French-Canadian players who play a similar style of timid hockey. He's sticking up for all the Canadian grinders who are constantly ridiculed by the European press for their goon-like tendencies and the Canadian style of hockey in general.

I don't agree with everything the man says, and a lot of times he lacks common sense and judgement, but that's what Ron Maclean is for: to balance everything out. I'd say racist pig is a little harsh.
