January 22, 200818 yr Commerce Ministry promotes export to Canada The Ministry of Commerce reports that Thailand’s export has a tendency to grow in Canada as there are a growing number of Asian people living in the country. Director of the Office of Service Trade Promotion under the Commerce Ministry, Pramuk Montriwat (ประมุข มนตรีวัต), discloses that the trade value between Thailand and Canada of the previous year was estimated at only about 1.8 billion USD. Products which have been exported more to Canada include frozen shrimp, canned and processed seafood, as well as jewelry and accessories. Mr Pramuk adds that Canadian people have high purchasing power and good attitudes toward Thai people and products. In addition, he expresses his confidence that Asian people living in Canada will buy Thai products, contributing to a higher trade value between the two countries.
