I went down to immigration earlier this month to get my next 90days on my ed visa, I went to counter 1 and got another 90days, so that keeps me going to early april. (i thought)

BUT NOW another employee at my school who is on the same visa said that he also went to counter 1 and got the 90days BUT THEN HE ALSO HAD TO GO TO COUNTER 3 FOR 90 DAY REPORT ?????????

I thought the 90 day report was to show up every 90 days and renew my ed-visa?

he said he was told to go to counter 3 next and report where his residence???

but on the form for the counter 1 i already stated where i was staying on this form

counter 1 never told me i had to go to counter 3 after and do this!!!!!!

can somebody please give me a clear answer on this.

P.S. is this an idependent site or is it conected with Thai immigration, is there anyway to contact thai immigration without having to go all the way down there?

OK it works like this.

A foreigner (you) who remains in thailand for more than 90 days must report his address to immigration every 90 days.

Extending a visa does NOT repeat NOT count as a 90 day report so two forms and desk visits are required, actually the FIRST extension DOES count as a report but no others do.

It is useful to synchronise your visa extensions and reports to save trips :o

EDIT No, this site is in no way shape or form affilliated with the Thai Immigration Service, useful information is availalble on this site :D

Thanks Crossy I appreciate the feed back, so I'm pretty much in trouble with immigration, yeah, thing is nobody told me, the people at counter 1 just gave me back my passport and that was it, but they informed my co-worker.

it says that i must pay 5000baht if i dont report in time and that I must pay another 200 for everyday, this is rediculous how the hel_l was I meant to Know!

do you think if i go in and explain my situation that they may be understanding and let it go this time cause they never informed me or directed me where to go next?

im now 13 days over, f*** this is such a pain, thailand as usual NO COMMUNICATION

what do you recon i should do? keep going until the april and then face it? if ya read the bit in bold again i reckon they can charge more than 20,000 ? do you reckon?

go to laos? maybe at the border they wont check this?

or just bite the bullet?

I read elsewhere that if I dont get caught but actually go in and admit that i've overstayed that the fine is only 2000, (but will I also be fined 200 for each day along with this) AND IS THIS realiable information, have the thai immigration stated that it is 2000 if you notify you have overstayed.

Was this your first extension, if not how many have you done?

You get 7 days grace on the report so it may not be too late yet :o

Please understand that what you are talking about is the 90 day address reporting which has nothing to do with visa overstay!

An overstay is if you stay in Thailand beyond the date "permitted to stay until" stamped in your passport.

I don't know what the current fine is for not reporting the address on time but it can't be much. Just search this forum and you'll find the answer.

Just go to Imm, explain and they'll let you know how much to pay. You won't even get a nasty stamp in your PP about that (I think so?!)
