At my grocery shop they sell some seaweed type stuff called Big Shiit, or some such spelling. Anyone else seen any amusingly named products? I have always had a chuckle over the sanitary napkin or kleenex brand (forget which as I buy neither!) named pigeon. It's like, "Hey, when I think hygiene, I think pigeon!" Also used to be a canned peanut snack around called 'Nut Walker.' Haven't seen it in a couple years. Nut walker was tasty. And nothing like grabbing for some nut walker when you're hungry! Easy and less creative, there're two packaged products called Fish-o and another called Squiddy that will please people. You can buy both of these in small cheap bags (snack pack style) and pass them out to friends back home for a taste of Thailand and a good little laugh too. Some of the veggie restaurants sell a brand of bread that's got "Whale-wheat" instead of "Whole-wheat" on the label. If you are into fashion accessories, ie bags/stationeries and the like, there are /lots/ of kitschy products around; the best I've seen thus far is the nursing student carrying a "Capsule Children" japanimation handbag. The Korean schoolboy notebook of a panda bear dry-humping a pillow with the caption "try it, you'll like it" comes a close second, though. Phil There used to be a Chinese made skin conditioner cream for women. It showed a picture of a gold colored rooster on the jar. It was called Golden Cock. It's advertising slogan was..........Every woman wants a Golden Cock. Obviously something was missed in the translation from Chinese to English. Had forgotten about it until last week I noticed an opened tube in the hong nam already half emptied. Immediately questioned my old Esarn wife about it. Political incorrectness is alive and well in Foodland Suk 5 where the other night I saw (can't for the life of me remember what it was now - some kind of cleaning product maybe) something called 'Black Man,' complete with cartoonish, yet somehow still sinister and almost ghoulish accompanying illustration. Like the bloke in the top-hat who emerges laughing like a dentist from the grave during the crazy voodoo ceremony in Live and Let Die. I was tempted to take a picture, but felt like any intense scrutiny of said product was somehow akin to viewing hardcore pornography in public. And how about the 'Wiley Toilet Partitions' company in Bangkok. Finally, I cannot remember the name of the publication but it brands itself as 'The magazine for Thailand's fisherman'. It was a Thai brand with an English Translation which had the flavour down as CABAGGE'S & CONDOMS. Can't say if they were any good or not, just couldn't talk myself into trying them.
