Creating A Last Will And Testament In Los

Featured Replies

Now that I have a 16 month old son, my wife and I have had discussions that perhaps we need to get create a Last Will and Testament for each of us, to protect our child's interests and to make our wishes clear. This is LOS and you never know when a drunken cement truck driver is going to enter your life (in a bad way).

Does anyone have any information about how to do this? Forms in Thai or English, etc? It would be great to get insight into this process.

Thank you!

We just saw a lawyer, explained what we wanted, and by the next day they were drawn up, with copies in English.

They need to be independently witnessed, and in our case the lawyer went to lengths to explain to us separately in front of the witness the content, so as to be sure no pressure had been brought to bear on either party.

All signed up and witnessed, and that was it.

yorkman can u pm me with who you used pls as gonna be in country next month & need hubby to do same. thanks

It can be in English. No translation legally needed. If it is in Thai. I believe the Thai version would take precedence.

Will do.

That is what I was told Jingthing, the Thai version takes preference.

Same same yorkman, just went to a lawyer and said I want to make a Will.

It should only cover your Thai assets though, any assets held in your own country need a Will drawn up in your own country.

Just a quick update. My future brother in law (wife's sister's fiancee) just graduated from law school and helped us draft a simple will to cover my wife and myself. We specified who we wanted to inherit (my wife and son, in my case) and we also had to list who we did not want to inherit (For example, my wife's parents, who would have some claim in certain circumstances, unless notated otherwise).

We also specified who we wish to recieve custody of our son in the event that we both die before he is grown.

And I learned that if my wife dies, I'll actually be able to inherit our house and land in my name. Lol Thats one way to own land I suppose. I'm going to hope I never have to find out, cause my wife is my rock.

Quick easy, and simple. And best of all, free!!! lol
