It would be best to get a tourist visa in UK before departure because even if the airline allow you to board without a visa, you probably wont get a problem on arrival at Thai immigration and will get a 30 day visa free entry stamp but you will definitely get hit for overstay on departure as you intend to stay 32 days in Thailand (both arrival day(part off) and departure day count as a full day)

By my calculations, presuming you are travelling on a UK passport and are subject to visa waiver, you would get a permit of stay stamp permitting you to stay until Saturday 5th April (30 days).

Unfortunately, your ticket out is on the 7th. So the airline are well within their rights to refuse boarding because you don't have the necessary Visa.

To be safe, you should either :

1) change your return ticket date to be before or on the 5th

or

2) get a 60 day Tourist Visa (or a Non Immigrant Visa if you qualify)
