Sorry, but BS artist aside, I don't make fun of anyone who is undergoing a medical emergency (collapsing and slamming his head against a podium).

He fainted.

I fainted plenty of times and have banged my head a few times. If he can't handle that, then he is even weaker than I thought.

Maybe he should start breast feeding from his mummy again. Poor little Mingkawn cat.

My comments yesterday were: "At the end of the day whether we agree with Mingkwan or not (I don't), we really don't want to see him coming to harm." At that time he was in the hospital and under observation. My comments weren't meant to offend you. Sorry if they did.

No offense taken at my end... :o

The guy, sorry, I've met him a few times, is a self serving grandstanding suck up who gives marketers a bad name.

He can't plan, he can't manage and he can't lead. He doesn't know anything about finance, he hasn't really ever been tested (MCOT, good grief, anyone could have improved it MORE than he did) and he is struggling with a few days of hard work for the first time in his life.

But other than that....yeah top bloke, perfect to run the finance department, after all he can't be too much worse than the TRT administration with Somkid.

OMR, I see your point about a true emergency, however this group has cried Wolf way to many times using medical reasons to stay away and delay from the courts. I think the jabs are appropriate based on WOLF WOLF WOLF way too many times.

OK, we are back to agreeing again.

There was disbelief among several in the opposition when Mingkwan was selected to be Commerce Minister. His comments before his mishap yesterday were that of a marketing guy telling people what they want to hear without ever really saying anything at all. What is scary is that this is going to be as good as it gets.

Perhaps rather than acting as someone's lawyer, Noppadope could involve himself with some time in his real job.... (the Post's odd headline aside)... additionally it seems that Chalerm is trying to endear himself with the feminist vote...

Foreign Ministry to probe sex claims

The Foreign Affairs Ministry is to investigate allegations that a Thai diplomat in Vientiane sexually harassed Lao staff. Permanent secretary for foreign affairs Virasak Futrakul said the husband of a Lao woman who worked at the Thai embassy submitted a complaint to the ambassador in Vientiane, Viboon Kusakul, last Thursday. The man alleged his wife had been sexually harassed by a Thai diplomat. Meanwhile, the Women Friends Foundation yesterday submitted a letter of complaint to Foreign Affairs Minister Noppadon Pattama about reports that an unspecified number of female Thai diplomats had been harassed. Noppadon said he had no information about the reports, but told the activists they should send the information to him. The sexual harassment allegations involving diplomats comes after a top official at the BMA was accused of graft and having affairs with his sub-ordinates. However, Interior Minister Chalerm Yubamrung took the allegations lightly, saying they were only a rumor. In what was meant to be a joke, Chalerm said it was not unusual for senior officials to have a gig _ Thai slang for mistress.

One might wonder whether, in his wide experience, this applies also to previous PMs as well ? Khun P might have something to say about that ! :o

Noppadope's agenda... :D

New approach to Burma, says Noppadon

Thailand has no choice but to put national economic interests before human rights concerns in dealing with Burma, Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama said yesterday. :o The Samak government would do whatever it takes to turn the economy around as quickly as possible. "In the past, we had constructive engagement and flexible engagement, but they never took us anywhere. Now, we will adopt another approach, neighbour engagement. We will talk to them in a friendly manner on subjects that they are comfortable with,'' said Noppadon. Noppadon said he feels sorry for Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, but was not able to help her. :D "I'll steer Thailand's foreign policy in a way that will benefit its people and businesses and protect the country's interests. He planned to transform Thai embassies into business centres :D, offering a one-stop service if possible. Team Thailand would be set up, comprising experts from various fields like commerce and labour, to give advice and promote investment abroad. To facilitate the effort, Noppadon planned to carry out a major reshuffle of diplomats. The Campaign Committee for Human Rights yesterday warned the government against making unfair transfers and said it had received reports that some high-ranking diplomats were potential targets for transfer by the new government. They included Kitti Wasinond, the Ambassador to Britain, who was said to have provided the CNS with in-depth information about the movements of the London-based supporters of Thaksin. Krit Garnjana-Goonchorn, the Thai Ambassador to the USA, is likely to be another target. When Mr Krit was Foreign Ministry Permanent Secretary under the Surayud government, he approved the withdrawal of Thaksin's diplomatic passport.

This reminds me of the fixed ruling ( Bribing of the judges ) in favour of Thaksin continuing as P.M. via similar scare tactics and excuses for their own conveniences.

Everyone with honest ethics, knows he should have been barred from taking office and that,s a fact

They are already doing it again and covering their options / ar*s*s to excuse anything unethical that will happen and justify any actions taken to keep themselves in power.

I do not think it will work this time Thaksin.

IMHO of course..........................................................................

YONGYUTH CASE

Threat of dissolution 'could sink investment'

Businessmen fear PPP may go down Published on February 27, 2008., The Nation

Businessmen are hoping the case of House Speaker Yongyuth Tiyapairat would not cause the People Power Party (PPP) to be dissolved as that would sink confidence among foreign investors.

Pornsilp Patcharintanakul, secretary-general of Board Of Trade of Thailand, said if the party was dissolved, foreign investor confidence would be hit hard and they could delay investment plans.

"Thai businessmen understand this situation well," Pornsilp said.

Rut Subniran, a member of Thai Rice Packers Association, said the Election Commission's (EC) decision to seek Yongyuth's disqualification should not lead to the dissolution of the party, which is the core of the coalition government.

"The PPP has a number of able people to fill Yongyuth's shoes, but if the EC's decision leads to a re-election, private enterprises would be ready to honour the decision as we all understand that it is based on fairness," he said.

Yesterday, the Stock Exchange of Thailand Index plunged 11.91 points at mid-day, as investors were worried of the possible dissolution of the PPP after the EC ruled that Yongyuth had violated election laws.

SET President Patareeya Benjapholchai said the impact would be short-term, but worries would linger until the court rules on the case. "It remains unclear how the judgement will affect the market."

Thanawat Patchimkul, executive vice president for institutional sales of Seamico Securities, said investors were anticipating a risky political situation following the EC's resolution.

He said although the issue would be forwarded to the Supreme Court, the court is expected to ask the EC if the resolution would lead to the dissolution.

"If the party is dissolved, a new general election will take place and I believe that those people in power will be re-elected, but there are uncertainties if the dissolution will derail the economic policies that the party has laid out," he said.

Santi Vilassakdanont, chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, said the EC's decision will have no effect on business confidence as this would not derail economic policies.

He declined to comment on the scenario of PPP being dissolved and Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej being forced to step down.

Boon Vanasin, a former advisor to Matchima Thipataya Party, expected that in the worst-case scenario, the Cabinet would be reshuffled when the executives of PPP were found guilty and banned from ministerial posts.

"The Constitution paves the way for politicians to switch to other parties within 30 days. This guarantees there will be no re-election. The process to dissolve the party would be time-consuming,"

he said.

Two points occur to me

1.The Burma policy remains essentially unchanged from that in place for at least the last ten years

2.The Campaign Committee for Human Rights is off base in its criticism of the ambassador reshuffle.Every government has the unfettered right to transfer diplomats at will.In America for example ambassadors regularly change with achange in administration. There are many reasons to criticise Samak's government but I don't think this is one of them.

Everyone knows he should have been barred from taking office and that,s a fact

It is not a fact....it is incorrect. There are people who think he should not have been barred from taking office. Whenever someone makes the declaration "that,s a fact" I take the time to read their statement carefully because a large percentage of the time I discover that indeed their statement is not factual...which is the case here.

You mis quoted again it should read " Everyone with honest ethics, knows he should have been barred from taking office and that,s a fact "

You submitted your post at 09.07 i had edited at 09. 02 as an after thought to add what i consider important to reflect my view on this.

Also to take into account what i consider, wind up merchants and nit pickers that may come back on it

All the " HONEST / DISHONEST Thaksin supporters are thus excluded which is how " I " saw / witnessed the reality of the situation. :o

You say I misquoted you AGAIN. This means you are accusing me of having misquoted you in the past. To the best of my knowledge I have never misquoted you.....please show where I did this in the past to justify your use of the word "again".....I did not misquote you now either....I copied and pasted directly from your post into my response. You are mistaken...I did not misquote you......you changed your post after I started writing mine. I have never to my knowledge misquoted anyone here on TV.

And further, your revised statement, "Everyone with honest ethics, knows he should have been barred from taking office and that,s a fact" which I also have copied and pasted directly from your post to mine is also wrong....there are people with honest ethics who think he should not have been barred so your assertion is still not factual.

Yes 5ome bad boys here. An Ugly Cabinet, his (PM) words not mine however I agree with his on this one 100%. :o:D

rather than talk about the business of running a country, most of his rehetoric has been about how he has had to make do as the 111 were the best people.

As far as I can tell, there are possibly 2 or 3 people in the 111 that have ANY skill at doing anything other than 'gin eng'.

Pimol Sivikorn is a prime example of who Samak is referring to - you yes, we really need this guy to run the country. A politician without a SINGLE NOTABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THAILAND, who could not even manage to win 80% of the vote running unopposed in his constituency of Bang Kapi, who comes from a political family formerly based in Korat and widely considered to be typical of the old style jao por approach to politics that got rolled into TRT.

He is one of the 111 and as far as I can see is as useful to running Thailand as the chewing gum stuck on my shoe yesterday as I walked to the MRT. Or shall we talk about Pinit, Suriya, etc etc????! utter morons.

You ask me whether the country would run better if you could choose him and the other 110 like him. I say, not a chance.

The reason why Samak's cabinet is c&*p is because no one decent wants to be associated with this mess. It is set up to fail, so that Herr Thaksin can return and hold the card of 'only I can run things, so don't destabilise by banning the 111 or by stopping me' the same approach as the asset concealment case which he, by most legal experts' opinions, should have been an open and shut case with a 5 year ban back then.

The full quote was ugly cabinet, but ugly can be smart.

In this case, Samak, you and your lads are both ugly and NOT a nice personality. And most definitely not smart.

We get what the journalists report....seems like they are interested in the things you mention....maybe they are not interested in what he is doing to run the country.....since there is a lot of graft to be had I would be surprised if Samak was doing nothing to run the country...he might actually be doing some good things too...I'm sure stranger things have happened.

To summarize: just because we don't hear what he is doing to run the country doesn't mean that he is doing nothing to run the country...it just means that it is not being reported.

strangely enough i have an EXCELLENT idea of what the journalists were expecting to hear and wanted to hear. The mood after hearing the words of Samak and also the little that Mingkwan cat said was 'oh dear we really are in trouble, these guys are morons'

They didn't get any of what the journos showed up to listen to - details of creating jobs, competitive advantage, export markets, response to globalisation etc.....

Just:

- justification for the people i chose and sorry they aren't any good

- slight drivel about a few mega projects which will probably never start

- lots more rhetoric

Sorry but from inside and from a public point of view, I don't know of a single person that is able to name a single thing so far that has been done to actually 'run the country' - fair enough as it is pretty early on. But the planning to date????

Basically non existant.

We DO hear what he is doing in fairly graphic detail....and so far all of it is about getting things back to pre coup and getting people off and out of jail.

That's pretty much it. A few handouts and parties planned along the way, but we've already had all of those under TRT 1.

As with many of your posts relating to the present political situation and your attempts to bait members who do not agree or go along with your misplaced views.

Forum rules do not allow me to say what could be read as derogratory things about our members and i respect them accordingly.

I have on at least 2 occasions replied in kind to what i consider about things you mischieviously have a knack of posting in your observations.

Inviting comments that at the end of the day only belong in the Bedlam Forum.

I did on those occasions get them edited for whatever reason, respect that they were for forum breaches and accept this without question., while wrongly responding in kind to your comments.

Due to respect of admin and mods, i try very hard at all times to not over react to certain forum spoilers, as we all should.

I also try to be economical with my views as most of what is being debated, others have commented on and save me the time to expand on them unless i feel strongly about certain issues.

You have taken exception to one of my comments as personal to yourself and go on to say i possibly want an argument.

Just because members have differences of opinion, does not mean they are seeking harsh exchanges, nor does it help when someone comes back with a part quote of something, taking it AS PERSONAL and using to further try and bait them.

You part quoted the following paragraph and so i,ll assist you in your endeavours to understand it.

"They are, ( This Government ) just to remind you, supposed to be looking after the interest of Thailands citizens and the future of the country in a way that compliments everybody, not just the greedy individuals who do not give a <deleted> about Thailand "

You reduced this to the following observation in your reply and in return i,ll part quote you this time :-

" This post of yours to which I am replying has some elements which seem to be begging for an arguement....emotional terms with pejorative implications like "do not give a <deleted>"....this sort of rhetoric makes me think you want to argue with me. Maybe I am wrong. "

I was not aware that you not only come across as a supporter of this present band of undesirables, but by your above observation / comment, are seemingly coming across as a member of ( This Government ) of whom i am clearly aiming my remarks to.

So yes, unless you are, as i describe above in my observation you are wrong, but not in the context you appear to mean it to be ??????

I do not know which is most corruptive relating to debate and commment.

Flammers or those who encourage flamed responses with snide remarks and supposed clever dick responses via use of certain techniques of playing with words and crafty use of their vocabulary.

I also do not in anyway indicate outright that you are either of the above as know the possible consequences of putting it across in such a way.

Nothing personal, but as the saying goes, you reap what you sow from certain members who you invite to have a go back and are not as thick skinned or easy going as i am.

marshbags :D

P.S.

Flamers and spoilers do not need to be mentioned be name, or falsely given importance by doing so, if the cap fits those in these two categories, they are unwelcomed in ongoing debates apart from the Bedlam Forum were they will get responses of a derogratory kind equal to their comments, if it,s still running that is. :o

As a democratic member of Thai Visa and one who respects forum rules and what they are intended for.

There will be no further debate between you and myself and i have requoted an earlier response to suspected baiting, and hope others may find it useful before providing the desired effect, this includes off topic reactions and bedlam ect. ect. ect., followed by enforced holidays as the outcome.

Unfortunately the baiter / baiters are crafty enough ( think they are ) to steer clear of the suspension that victims can and will earn themselves.

marshbags :D

P.S.

I hope the mods will allow my post as a positive one and within the boundaries of fair debate and comment.

In my previous post I did not address the issue of what the journalists EXPECTED to hear primarily because there are so many different journalist.....with such different agendas....some might have even been there to do unbiased reporting but its really difficult to determine what is unbiased because hyperbole and exageration seems to run rampant in Thai journalism....maybe I'm just not getting much of the unbiased stuff....why don't you post some good unbiased articles here...I'd enjoy seeing what you come up with.

You post alot like you are some kind of insider or somthing. From where I sit all you are is bunch of text on my screen...there is no way for me to know if you are an insider or not...and if so then what you are inside of....no disrespect is meant here I'm just trying to show you how I really have no way of knowing what your position is and how you could be having the inside information you claim to have..as a result I usually don't take your insider comments too seriously....really don't you think that I would be foolish to just accept that someone who posts here really has access to this kind of information. I'm posting this so that you will understand why I ignore some of the information you post in my replies....I do think your insider claims are interesting and I always allow that they might be true.

Actually, since you started up this whole line of a weeks-old issue, I would have thought my first response to your post in which I clarified the reality and specifics of what occured would have put it to rest and ended it there... but as you decided to pursue it with continual responses, it's brought us to this point.

As you have posted distinctly that you are only interested in saying what you feel needs to be said and that you're uninterested in what other's opinions are on a subject, then there's really no point for anyone to respond to any of your posts in the future.

If nothing else, this exchange has been beneficial to establish those guidelines.

Democrats divide responsibilities of Shadow Deputy Prime Ministers

A meeting that took place at the Democrat Party headquarters yesterday presided over by Shadow Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva (อภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ) spent one hour discussing the responsibilities of the Shadow government’s 6 Deputy Prime Ministers. After the meeting, party spokesman Sirichoke Sopha (ศิริโชค โสภา) revealed the gathering's verdicts.

FOURTH VICTIM

Pol Gen Seripisut out and Patcharawat in

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej has ordered the transfer of national police chief General Seripisut Temiyavej to be seconded at the Prime Minister's Office pending further instruction and named Seripisut's deputy General Patcharawat Wongsuwan as the acting police chief, Government House officials said on Friday.

The abrupt transfer happened a day following the return of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra who is reportedly pushing for the promotion of his brotherinlaw Lt General Preowpan Damapong.

Seripisut was promoted to his job following the ousting of Thaksin. Preowpan has been seconded from the police service to the Prime Minister's Office since the September 19 coup. He called on Thaksin on Thursday's evening before the transfer of Seripisut was released to the public.

Patcharawat is expected to work in the caretaker capacity as he would reach his retirement in September. Seripisut will also retire.

GPO chairman next in line to face the axe

Minister wants clean slate, Vichai won't go

Public Health Minister Chaiya Sasomsub is putting pressure on Vichai Chokewiwat, a key health official behind the compulsory licensing (CL) policy, to resign as Chairman of the Board of the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO). "I cannot guarantee now whether I will remove him or not. But etiquette requires that the GPO Board resign when a new Public Health Minister is appointed. Different ministers have different policies," Chaiya said after meeting the board of the National Health Security Office yesterday. However, he said the same etiquette did not apply to the post of GPO Managing Director, now held by Witit Artavatkun. The GPO is responsible for importing seven Aids, heart and cancer drugs listed under the CL policy announced by the previous Surayud Chulanont government. However, the move to import cancer drugs was shelved after Chaiya decided to review the ministerial announcement on by-passing cancer drug patents. Dr Vichai, who chairs the CL committee, is seen as the next target after Siriwat Tiptaradol, Chairman of the panel responsible for negotiating price cuts with cancer drug firms, was removed on Tuesday as the FDA Secretary-General and put in an inactive post as a health ministry inspector.
