dazdaz Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 It's great to see jobs advertised on the board. There are however some clarifications that I think interested people would like to ask and so I hope you don't mind me asking those questions. So in other words this is a sales and clerical role for someone who can speak English. Is the role open to Farang's? You don't mention the name of your recruitment company, the size, history of company, how long have you been established? nor an indication of the benefit package, nor the sales person's on top of earning (OTE) incentive for making extra sales. For all people know, you could be just collecting CV's. Is CNSLT your company initials? Is there a company website? Forgive me for asking all these questions, but there is a lack of information and you post from a Hotmail email address which does all look suspicious. I apologise if this is'nt the case, but everyone will want to know the answers to these questions. Regards
palace1 Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 Sunds fishy, Is there not a website, so we can have confidence in sending our CV's to you?
Jade Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 It is not professional for a company to utilise a hotmail address, but I wouldn't call it suspicious.
bkkcnslt Posted July 18, 2003 Author Posted July 18, 2003 I can understand and appreciate all your concerns, but please let me assure you this is a very genuine request for one of Thailand's number one Recruitment Companies. The reason for the 'obscurity' is quite simply we are advertising here, which with the greatest respect is not exactly 'professional'. The reason this board was targetted is specifically as it is an expat forum and I frequent this place regularly myself and know there to be some intelligent people here. With a little research you should be able to narrow our company down to maybe one or two Recruitment Companies. We are the number one. Also, the reason we do not post our company email is obvious, we do not want tonnes of unsolicited or crass email's pouring through our inbox. With regards to questions on salaries/benefits, this is open and we are encouraging anyone interested to submit their resumes at which point we will contact interesting candidates to our office to discuss in more detail the job specifications, benefits and salaries. Again, I appreciate everyone's concerns but assure you of our best intentions at all times. Oh, nearly forgot, this job is for farang's (note: native English speakers).
TRIPxCORE Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 I am without a doubt, the finest native English speaker you will ever have the luck to find. If you wish to employ me, I will accept the job for US $50,000 per year and medical insurance. Thank you.
LPCustom69 Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 I know that age discrimination is widely practised in Thailand. What do you consider young, as age seems to be more important with this job than knowledge or experience.
enchanted Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 Hi Does the term "Farang" include foreigners of Asian ethnicity? Eg. Malaysian, Singaporean, China Nationals, etc..
goofy Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 No they are rasist as the most thai companys. Schools seeking only native speakers thow you can find many others that are as good as native (swedish). Thai co ltd only wants to have thai nationals, with the same education and experience as a farang, but farangs are not welcome. And they keep advertising that they want more staff, will they never learn. Iam happy to already have work for a swedish company and not the need to bend for the stupid schools or Thai co. cheers
GlenTuk Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 I'm with tripxcore on this one, I am the second finest Native English speaker you would ever find !. Would your company offer the required work permits ? Is your company Worldwide, Asiawide or just Thailand based ? What about recruiting people from the UK ? Can't you give us any idea what this is about !? Come on as per Daz Daz at least give us a peep at your Website, It would save me selling my house in the UK and dragging Khun Wifey and Son 6000 miles to Bangers just to end up delivering Newspapers.........! I understand your reasons, but giving a little more info would install more interest/confidence. ???
rakthai Posted July 20, 2003 Posted July 20, 2003 HiDoes the term "Farang" include foreigners of Asian ethnicity? Eg. Malaysian, Singaporean, China Nationals, etc.. farang means 'westerner' not asian!
LPCustom69 Posted July 20, 2003 Posted July 20, 2003 I would have thought that the original poster would have responded to some of the valid questions raised by members since he visits the site often. Obviously they have found what they are looking for.
banana Posted July 20, 2003 Posted July 20, 2003 I think I know what it is, since a good friend of mine is involved in similar work. Basically what it is is to visit companies to sell English courses...
evander Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 Schools seeking only native speakers thow you can find many others that are as good as native (swedish). Thow (?) obviously not you
Butterfly Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 I know people who did this and got burnt by not being payed. Basically you have to pay a license for the teaching material and you have to prospect for your own clients under the company name. And of course you give a cut to the company. So you do everything and the company gets a cut. How smart and convenient. And posting an address with hotmail is a major "red flag"
PedSuam Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 I have a friend doing such a job in Bangkok - I went along to a couple of appointments with him out of curiosity. Seemed fine. His employer was T&TA and although I don't know the exact terms, he seemed to do pretty well out of it. He'd have to do his own promoting (usually cold calling, by phone and foot! I hate that) or by faxing/emailing..unless he had a definite lead calling him first (rare). Existing old hands keep a record of their old clients, and were very protective over them too, so often hard to break into good companies. The work itself was ok (once appointments had been made with HR Manager et al) explaining the costings of the course etc. etc. He'd get a low base pay but quite good commission on selling a course, that was it. He'd need to sell a few courses per month and he'd try to do about 3 or 4 appointments per day driving around Bangkok (tiring stuff), so you can imagine the hassle trying to badger companies into wanting English courses to actually get that appointment quota. I'd be interested to know if this is a similar job to the one which the original poster is advertising...?
goofy Posted July 28, 2003 Posted July 28, 2003 Thow (?) obviously not you I already have work, just ######ing tired of reading all these bad ads Cheers Swede and proud of it
