Criminal Record Check

Recommended Posts

In order to apply for a full type O/A Retirement visa, I have to obtain and produce a criminal record check, and prove that I have no previous convictions in the UK and Thailand, and that I am not wanted by the police for anything.

I know how, and where to apply for this paperwork in the UK. However, it can take 40 days to come through. I am also unclear as to how I can prove that I have a clean record, and am not wanted in Thailand.

When I arrive in Thailand, on a non immigrant (Multiple Entry) Type O visa, I have to take this police check to the British embassy and get it notorised, (And perhaps translated into Thai ?).

I then have to wait until I have been in Thailand for 60 days before applying for the full retirement visa.

At worst case, My police check will be out of date before I can apply...

If it is dated on the date of my origional application to the police in the uk, and I then have to wait 40 days for it to arrive, then fly to thailand ( 2 days) and then continuously reside there for another 60 days, my police check will be 102 days old before I can apply for my retirement visa... and by then it will be invalid, because it will be more than 3 months old.

This seems to be another catch 22 situation... can anyone enlighten me as to how this can be done properly? I may be making wrong assumptions here. Even if the paperwork is dated on the date that the UK police conclude their checks, it still means a fairly narrow window of opportunity.

Can anyone advise me as to the answer to this problem?

Once again, I apologise to the Mods if I have duplicated a thread

You do not need a police report when you arrive in Thailand with your Non O Visa.

Again. It is not needed. Do not bother to get one. Save your time and money.

You have totally false information. To obtain a non immigrant OA visa you visit the Royal Thai Embassy in London and present your paperwork there and are issued the OA visa. When you arrive in Thailand you are stamped into the country for one year. Only the Embassy can issue a non immigrant OA visa. All paperwork is done in the UK with a UK bank account.

If you want to extend your stay inside Thailand (one year at a time) you do so during the last 30 days of a non immigrant visa entry and only financial paperwork/passport are required. As a matter of fact this can even be done from a tourist visa or visa exempt entry with an extra 2,000 baht step (done with 21 days or more remaining).

If you are planning to use the 65k per month income method of extension there is absolutely no reason to pay for a multi entry visa. Only if you need to have money in bank account 3 months (using the 800k account balance) would more than one entry be required.
