Seems you have to use keyboard "alt/home" to navigate to home page now. As I often like to open a new tab and start at home page (using mouse) find this a real step back. What is it with DOS programmers that they have to avoid using todays technology?

This does seem to be a bug. However, to get your homepage when you open a new tab, get the "New Tab Homepage" extension. It works just fine - even under the new beta. (You'll have to disable add-ons version checking, though.)

Yeah, I also hate this "feature", here's the solution:

open you're bookmarks toolbar

go into customize mode and drag the home button to the main bar

go out of customization mode and disable the bookmarks tab again
