I've been using GMAIL, YAHOO MAIL, and Hotmail for email in Thailand, and find that Hotmail consistently has problems. Usually, I just can not access my email but today I got the following message:

-----

Forbidden

You were denied access because:

Access denied by access control list.

I am able to get into Yahoo Mail and GMail just fine. Also, I can only get into Hotmail using Firefox, as Safari never finds it. What are other experiences with email in Thailand? Is this normal?

It's because Hotmail is owned by Microsoft and they know that nobody pay for Windows software here so they punish us by slowing down the service.

Just kidding. The real reason is they host it on crappy Microslush servers, hence the error message you get

Hello.

I have NO PROBLEMS AT ALL with Hotmail or G-Mail (apart from the STILL not working Windows Live Mail Desktop synchronization). From home, that is, using True.... Bangna area.

HOWEVER at the office (Lad Phrao) i can NOT get into G-Mail AT ALL today (worked yesterday!) and since WEEKS, i can get the Hotmail home page but logging in requires 10-15 "refreshes". This is also on True.

BUT using the AOL browser (which includes a proxy, it shows me as being in Germany) there is NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER with either one of the services.

So the problem is very clearly with TRUE, not Microsoft or "crappy lines out of Thailand" or anything else. True alone.

Best regards.....

I find Hotmail sucks in any country you use it. Beyond me why people still do when there is Gmail available.
