Questions About Non-o Visa Please

Featured Replies

I have 2 questions about Non-o visa please

- I've just converted my visa to a Non-o in Bangkok. Now I have 3 months visa, can I leave Thailand for 4 days trip and ask for re-entry permit for this visa?

- After 2 months I have to apply for one year visa, the immigration officer told me that I can apply in Bangkok but why many people go to embassy outside Thailand to apply this one year visa? More difficult to get from Bangkok? How different please? If apply in Suan Plu then every 90 days I have to go to Suan Plu but if I apply in overseas embassy?

If you have converted to a Non-O, you have now received a 'permit of stay' of 3 months.

You can apply for a re-enrty permit to keep this permit of stay alive.

About 3 weeks before the end of your permit of stay you can apply IN THAILAND to extend that stay for one year depending on your status.

If you are over 50, you can show funds in a Thai bank of over 800k (it must be in the account for at least 3 months) or an income of 65k per month (a letter from your Embassy willdo) or a combination of both.

A one year visa is generaly not given in an Embassy around Thailand unless you are married to a Thai.

A re-entry permit can be obtained at a Thai Immigration Office or airside at an airport. The fee is 1000 baht for a single entry permit. You will be applying to extend your Non-Immigrant visa, and that can only be done in Thailand. The 90 day reporting can be done by mail. Ask Immigration about it when you are there extending your visa.

Yes, I'm married with a Thai girl. Shall I apply one year in Bangkok or go to overseas embassy is easier? I've heard from the agent that the immigration here always denied to give one year visa, is that true? Sorry my English is not so good, I hope you understand my question.

If you qualify, in Bangkok you will get a year extension of stay . Not a Visa. This means you can stay for 1 year without having to

do border runs.

If you get outside of Thailand it will be a Visa. Meaning you will have to do border runs every 3 months.

To qualify in Bangkok. If you are over 50 . Look at Krubs post above. If you want to qualify by having a Thai Wife you must prove a monthly family income of 40,000 Baht.

If you do not qualify in Bangkok.

Your best bet will probably be to get a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa in Penang.

As you are married to a Thai Lady.

But Bangkok would be better if you can do it.

Have fun.

OK you are married to a Thai lady.

1. If you are over 50, you can extend one year in Thailand if you can show 800.000 baht in a Thai bank account or an monthly income of 65.000 baht or a combination

2. If you are under 50, you can extend one year in Thailand if you can show an income (lone or together with your wife) of 40.000 baht per month.

3. You can go to a Thai Embassy and get a 1 year visa (not a permit of stay) by showing your wife's ID card and your marriage certificate + in some Embassies you need to show some funds. Thisvisa will allow you each time you enter Thailand during the validity of your visa of a 90 days permit/period of stay. Meaning you need to either extend in Thailand (see 1 or 2) or go out of Thailand and re-enter to get a new 90 days permit of stay

Good luck

You can also get this if you are over 50.
