Hello all

Does anybody know if they are requesting again photographs of the married couple at home etc to apply for the Thai Wife visa?

Is the minimum balance in the bank account 400,000 THB?

Thanks

They mostly still request the photographs of you. The 400,000 baht in a bank no longer applies. You are now required to show income of 40,000 baht per month for extensions based on marriage to a Thai.

We believe you are talking about a one year extension of stay for family obtained from an Immigration office. This is not a visa. If first time you should have photos and the required 40k monthly family income proof.

Thanks for the info. By the way do you know when the 400,000 THB in the bank has been cancelled as last March was still applicable, and, what proof is required now for the 40K monthly income?

The rule was changed October 2006.

However if you were using the 400,000 in the bank rule before this date you can continue to do so.

40,000 a month needs a letter from your Embassy if income from abroad or Tax payment receipts if in Thailand.

Back when the new police order came out the got rid of the 400K rule and made it 40K per month income only. But if you have previously qualified under the old 400K rule you are supposed to be grandfathered in to keep using that method ad infinitum unless you break your chain of stay by leaving without a re-entry permit. For the proof of income they seem to want a letter from your embassy showing your monthly income. For the USA you just go to ACS at the embassy on Wireless Road, fill out a form, pay 1,020 baht, and wait for your name to be called. You then are asked if you understand the form and if the information is accurate. You then sign then form in front of the consular official, the consular official signs along with an imprint of the consular seal of the USA. Other countries have other requirements, check with your embassy. I spoke with a few people getting the letter when I was there that had all kinds of income documentation for immigration, but they refused to take it and told them to get get a letter from their embassy.

I am in the process of trying to obtain the extension to a Non Resident 'O' visa, based on marriage.

We went to immigration in Bangkok yesterday. My wife has a small beauty salon/spa. We were told to return with a form from the government to say that we pay tax on the salons takings of 40,000 baht per month, photos of our wedding and of us together outside our house and at the salon. They did not want to see the salons books to prove the 40,000, just the tax form.

Hope this helps.
