Not sure about the visa for Myanmar in Chiang Mai - telephone the embassy in Bangkok first to check. Get that sorted before you go, its nearly impossible to get visa on arrival now in Myanmar.

Air Mandalay (airline code 6T) flies twice weekly - Chiang Mai to Mandalay and on to Yangon (Thursday afternoons) and Chiang Mai direct to Yangon (Sunday afternoon)

I am fairly sure the flight schedules are about to change though so check for further info - was in Yangon last week and remember reading a local article where Air Mandalays' GM talked about changing the flight times.

My advice; DO read the RIGHT branhc of this forum, visa etc: I recall that RGN=Yangon ONLY processes Burmese, and flatly refuses farang. To my amazement it time on time appears that visarunners/long staying farang tend to be far less informed (also notable on this forum) as travellers/backpackers etc. on their forum on lonelyplanet.com. the CHEAP way to fly, even from Cmai to RGN is airasia.com via BKK (an overnite there is then needed due to flight-times. the 1/week flight ex CNX is often cancelled lately, as the nr of pax is so low after the ''rebellion'', only when some tourgroup appears making it worthwhile.
