Illegal Or Wot?

Featured Replies

:o:D I dont if this has been discused already on here but it is something that has puzzled me lately and i was wondering if any of you could throw any light on the subject.

I was in samui last april talking to 2 guys who own a bar/rest/accomadation. I said to them , can you work here on a retirement visa and both said yes you can. Anyway i thought it sounded a bit dodgy/ illegal and thought no more about it. In nov i was at a ex-pats meeting in pattaya and talking to the audience was a guy who owns key visa co in jomtien and he talked about getting a work permit on a retirement visa. All the people in the audience looked at each other and one guy put his hand up and said, I didnt think you could get a work permit on a retirement visa?? and the guy said yes you can and in fact its the easiest way to obtain one.

I know its says on the visa site that you are not allowed to work on a retirement visa but well :D:D:D im confused???

I did try to speak with the guy afterwards , but thats for members only.

so, what do you think???

I did not think a retirement visa would allow you a work permit. A bit of an oxymoron if you ask me.

You might be better off having this moved to the Thai Visa, residency, work permit forum.
