I am fine-tuning my April holiday. Flying Gold Coast (OOL) to BKK via KUL with Air Asia. Leave early the next morning and fly to Phuket with Thai Airways for a couple of days.

Rather than fly back to BKK and then to Hong Kong, I am wondering how many airlines fly direct to Hong Kong from Phuket.

To date, I have only found one airline, Orient Thai, which flies daily. No prices given on their very basic website, but their departure and arrival times suit me.

So - two questions, please:

1) How much is the return fare between Phuket and Hong Kong with Orient Thai, including all taxes and charges?

2) Any other airlines fly direct between Phuket and Hong Kong?

I seem to remember paying 9,500 baht return in November.

I also know that if you fly only one-way it is almost the same price as the return.

They are a pain to book outside the country you are flying from, i.e. you can't book Thailand to Hong Kong from Hong Kong and vice versa unless you use an online travel agent and even then you have to pick up the tickets from the agent.

The price is a lot cheaper than Dragonair, though there may be some specials. Hong Kong Express were supposed to start flying this route as well but I haven't checked for a while.

Dragon Air is quoting 12,480 baht for Phuket-Hong Kong-Phuket (inc all taxes and charges).

Unable to get a quote on Phuket-Hong Kong-Bangkok.

Hong Kong Express is only flying BKK-Hong Kong at this stage.

Total fare, HKD 3,011.00 = 12,164.44 Baht

Orient Thai, 999Baht plus taxes = 1,650Baht one way. + HKT to BKK fare
