I have had this @indy for 4 months now, and like most others, its pissing me off.

Always at 1103 they say that i should upgrade to @premium, but is it really faster?

The price is a bit steep compared to indy, but i think ill take it if it will make the connection better.

Does anyone have any experiences changing from indy to premium and has it helped?

Thanks

unski mate, i have just upgraded to the 1024/512 premier package. about two weeks ago there was a promotion on and its cost was 1090 instead of 3040 a month. i think you can still get it if you have a package with tt&t allready.

im getting at the moment - downlload 986 kbps and upload 413kbps - and its only getting better every day.

if you can get the upgrade for that price then its well worth it. 100%

I've had the TT&T Maxnet Indy up to 2.5M (Speed:2560/512KB) package for a while. It works, but I have had complaints about the service before.

What I have found is that within Thailand the speeds are very good when connecting to services (web sites etc.) also within Thailand, but connecting to services (be that mail, web sites, youtube, etc) outside of Thailand they can be not as good, and at times completely unusable and frustrating.

I'll have to see if I can upgrade to the Premium package you mentioned Kopite.

Thanks,

Tom.

Details from the TT&T shop (as at 27th February 2008);

Indy -- Speed 1024/512 -- Usually 1,000 Baht -- Promotion 590 Baht

Indy -- Speed 1536/512 -- Usually 1,500 Baht -- Promotion 790 Baht

Indy -- Speed 2048/512 -- Usually 2,000 Baht -- Promotion 1,000 Baht

Premier -- Speed 1024/512 -- Usually 3,400 Baht -- Promotion 1,090 Baht

Premier -- Speed 1536/512 -- Usually 4,300 Baht -- Promotion 1,990 Baht

Premier -- Speed 2048/512 -- Usually 5,200 Baht -- Promotion 3,400 Baht

Premier -- Speed 3072/512 -- Usually 7,000 Baht -- Promotion 5,200 Baht

What do you guys think about?...

I'm thinking about moving from my current Indy 2048/512 at 1,000 Baht to the Premier 1024/512 at 1,090 Baht under the current promotion.

You may be thinking that surely it’s a downgrade in speed and paying a few extra baht for the privilege.

Well the Indy package connection is apparently shared with 40 users, whereas the Premier package connection is apparently shared with 20 users. Currently, connecting to sites and services within Thailand is fast and no problem, however connecting to sites and services outside of Thailand (which I do mostly) can at times be painfully slow. Therefore my thinking is that I can move to the 20:1 ratio Premier package and possibly gain better data transfer rates.

My current SpeedTest.net results are;

Feb 28, 2008 02:50 - Pattaya to Bangkok = Download: 2545 kb/s, Upload: 422 kb/s.

Feb 28, 2008 02:58 - Thailand to London = Download: 1094 kb/s, Upload: 194 kb/s.

Feb 15, 2008 03:07 - Thailand to London = Download: 513 kb/s, Upload: 194 kb/s.

More often than not I get poor data transfer rates like displayed from the Feb 15th results above. With data transfers most of the time less then 1024/512, maybe the Premier package might help things.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,

Tom.

to

Premier -- Speed 1536/512 -- Promotion 1,990 Baht

I am with Sam, today i upgraded (well downgraded) from 2560 indy to 1536 Premium and it's really worth it, best thing was that they told me it would work 4hrs later but it worked as soon as i went home.

Funny thing was that i took them like 5 hours to downgrade the speed from the dslam (i suppose) so i was having a very great connection up to 200kB/s (that was wonderful). Now my speed tops at 150kB/s and no traffic shaping whatsoever, it's very nice. (but well cost double the price !)

I use Indy -- Speed 1024/512

A friend uses Indy -- Speed 1536/512.

Using my notebook on each connection produces almost exactly the same speed results so in my opinion I am saving 200 bht a month. Or another way, my friend is wasting 200 Bht per month so I am loath to believe maxnet when they talk of package upgrades.

I usually get 800 kbps download and 350-400 upload using the Thaivisa test. Good enough for me.

Forget the indy package. Its is a joke. If you read the small print it says ' not for really for use outside Thailand or downloading torrentz etc" For browsing in Thialand its not even that good. The 2 meg indy version is virtualy the same. Just go to speedtest.com and do a test beyween CM and Bangkok. It will seem ok? Then do a test between CM and London. You will see a result that make s a carrier pidgeon seem fast.

Dont mess around . Get down to centrals TTANT office and upgrade to the 1 meg premiere package. You will get exactly the speed they are advertising. I can download at 100 kbs 24 hours a day. Streaming 2 or three video clips at a time is a doddle. I have been using the service for 5 months and have suggested it to many friends who are extremly happy with it. The promotion price is open to everybody. Ignore the was 3000, now 1060bahht. Thats a load of Boolocks. Like most sale prices around ,its just to get you looking. The total price per month is just under 1200 baht. You will not regret it.

If you are going to sign a new contract? Do not take there modem as you will be locked into a 12 month contract. Use your own modem and you can cancel when you like.

Good luck and dont hang aroung with a inferior package.

I also went from Indy to Premier last month and it's night and day different unless of course all you do is read Sanook.com. Since coming back to Chiang Mai after Christmas I couldn't even download my email using pop3 into Thunderbird on Indy even though it would download fine connected via DTAC GPRS.

It actually says on the Maxnet website that Indy is 'best for Thai surf' and also "limited bandwidth for international VoIP/P2P" so they're not being completely disingenuous with their advertising.

Although I'm sure most know, it's imporant when running speed tests on Speedtest.net to change the server location to see your real speed.
