cm das
I'm here on a non-imm b extended until Sep. 30 this year. I recently went to the US for a short visit. When I landed at Suvarnabhumi I showed the immigration officer my re-entry permit with the Sep. 30 date on it. He proceeded to stamp me in... until Nov. 30 this year. So I'm confused, does this mean I can really stay til then? Unfortunately, it's all pretty much academic as I'll be leaving the country for another short trip in June & who knows what my new arrival stamp will say. But anyway, does the arrival stamp trump my previous extension? Anyone know? Thanks.
Khutan
Careful, it may be a mistake. If you were not leaving in less than the prescribed 90 days, I would get the stamp corrected. You could end up on overstay.
lopburi3
No. You are only allowed what you are allowed - in this case the re-entry permit date.
cm das
Thanks for the quick answers. Like I said it's not really a practical issue for me, but it's good to have a clearer idea of the ground rules.
torrenova
Sorry but you have to do their job for them when they screw up !
astral
Visit your local immigration office and point out the mistake. They should be able to correct it for you.
cm das
Wait, now I'm confused again. Is this something I have to get corrected even if I'm going to be leaving the country in June (3 months before my visa extension expires)? That wouldn't make much sense to me, but maybe making sense is too much to ask for.
lopburi3
It should not be an issue if you travel before the allowed re-entry/extension of stay date. If you try to use the extra time it (likely) will become an issue.
greenmember
Your permit is until Sep 30. Forget about the wrong stamp. I don't think you need to make any correction.
