Dogs And Mosquito Spray/coils

Featured Replies

I have recently moved into a house with a small mosquito problem. I was going to by some Raid or some coils or plug in devices to kill them but then it occurred to me that this might not be good for my 4 month old dog. Can anyone tell me if this would be safe or not. I tried searching the forum but all I could find were posts about repellent to rub on the dog which didn't really answer this question.

Thanks

i use the electric devices where you put the cardboard mats in. especially for puppies in the room they stay. never a problem and works very good.

Thanks for that elfe I'll try them. Which moves me onto my next problem, ants. :o

We use the mosquito coils, I don't know what the dangers they may present.

I've heard from friends that the electric devices give them headaches. These things probably emit some poison.

Interesting discussion, I'd be keen to learn more.

You can buy what is labelled as "pet friendly" mossie coils in the pet food section of lotus and other major stores in Pattaya. They also last longer than the regular "human" kind

There wasn't much choice with the cardboard mat type so I got a plug in one with liquid. I'm pretty sure it's bad for pets though so will try to use it mainly when the dog isn't in the room. My guess is that it wouldn't kill a dog but it probably wouldn't be good if the dog ate the whole thing.

Are ppl concerned with the toxic effects of the fumes from coils or are they worried the dogs will eat them?

Mainly the toxic effects from the fumes, I took the warning in Thai on the back of the product I bought to mean keep out of reach of children and animals. Which, presumably means don't let them eat it. However, it doesn't go any further.

But don't the electric things also give off some sort of poison? I know ppl get headaches from them but are OK with the fumes.
