Grant me a little leniency here as I'm asking on behalf of a friend and don't know all the details. And as I'm here on a Non B, I haven't had to worry about this sort of thing in years.

It's a two parter about what and where:

The deal is my friend came here with a couple Multi-Entry Tourist Visas and they are now thru, as will be her 3 back-to-back 30 day tourist visas in March. I'm trying to help her strategize where to go to purchase/apply for a new multi-entry tourist visa without having a hassle or being told she has to return home to England. If she purchases 6 mo's worth of multi-entry visas she should be fine and then be able to decide whether to stay here or go back or continue on in the vicious 30 day tourist stamp thing again, right ? Where is the best nearby emabssy for her to travel to, with the least jumping thru hoops ? Vientianne ? Penang ?

Thanks in advance. I peroused the forum already and didn't find all that I wanted. I'd really like to know who has had the least trouble getting their visas and where in the neighboring SE Asian countries recently.

To clarify matters, there is no such thing as "multi-entry" tourist visa.

Tourist visas are for one, two or possibly three entries only.

I just came back this morning from Vientiane, Laos with a DOUBLE ENTRY TOURIST VISA. For convenience I used Rungsangtravel.com (02 525 1819). Rung did all my paperwork etc. for me. No need to wait in line in the hot sun.

We departed by bus Sunday evening and returned Wednesday morning.

Total cost paid to Rungstravel which include all (Visas -Lao and Thai, Hotel with breakfast, travel etc.) except "entertainment cost" a reasonable 6500 baht (for one entry only).

Because of Rungs knowledge of the area and people this trip became a "fun mini-vacation". Most Visa-run Companies just "drop you off" and you spend a boring 2 days waiting for your Visa.

Thanks for the tips. The girls doing the trip herself pretty much and feels confident now, though still a little anxious. She's flying from CNX to Udon, then busing it over to Vientianne (she's flying in one-way for 1,900 :o. Luckily friends of friends will put her up so she saves on hotel and has someone to show her around town. I did a similar run myself but back in 2004 though it's all a little hazy now. I had a fairly easy time with the staff at the Embassy though didn't find them to be very charming or anything like that. Any tips about their attitude as of recent date? Or any recent tips for dealing with them or tales of how it went for others are appreciated. Also, back then my 60 Day Visa cost about 1,000-,1500 baht. I forget. Are they the same now ? Thanks to those who have offered their experiences n knowledge. YOu can apply for two 60 day Visas can't you ?
