just reformat it, simple as 1, 2, 3.not unless your computer is not powering on, then u need expert.

Do you have the original Windows CD-ROM? If so, just re-install Windows. It is self-explanatory. Very, very easy. If you don't have the original Windows CD-ROM or recovery disk that may have come with your computer, then it could be a little more difficult. You could take the computer to Icon Plaza and I'm sure that one of the kids upstairs that build the sysyems would be glad to re-format your HDD and install Windows for you for a couple of hundred Baht. They don't speak much English up there, bring your Thai friend with you if possible.

Before you reformat your drive, make sure you get everything you need off of it!

If you install it as a second 'slave' drive into a computer that already has a system drive, you can access all the data you may still have on the hdd.

Don't forget to get all your MyDocs. emails, email addresses, bookmarks, photos, music, letters, (porn - kidding) vid, etc etc.

If you want to do it yourself, buy a second hdd - they are cheap. Take out the original, and set it to 'slave'.

Install windows on your new drive, then turn off the computer, and then install the old drive as the slave.

Windows should boot from your new drive properly, and then you can copy stuff from the old one. THEN you may format it!!!

It is look like easy to wipe out and install Windows if you had done it before, but it is can be confused if you never experience about it. PM. me or call me at 081 6811371 I think I can help

if you get stuck I can help... qualified computer systems engineer, native English speaker

I wasn't thinking clearly last night.

If you need to save any data, you can also install it into a 'external USB' box.

Then just plug it into any computer, and get your stuff

if you can be a bit more specific about what errors you are encountering, perhaps we can help better without the need of re-formatting your HDD. What happens when you boot? what errors show up?

Before reformatting or reinstaling the OS, try doimg a system restore to a restore point before your 'clean up'. Also if it is in the recycle bin, try booting up in safe mode and restoring from the recycle bin. Igf you have the OS CD, you can boot up with it and do a Restore (not reformate/install to replace vital system files. I am assuming Windows XP here as its still the most common. Details would help us diagnose and make suggestions.

I can vouch for Jim and the top notch service he provides.

He truly is a computer wizard. :o

Frankly ... The problem - as described in the opening post - doesn't require a wizard of any kind... As the opening poster himself indicates - any kid who'

ve managed to get some 1. shooter game going on his PC would know how to handle a simple situation like that... Don't insult the experts. :o

This may be worth a try:

1. Restart your system

2. When the system first boots, type F8 to bring up the boot menu

3. Select the Safe Mode with Command Prompt option

4. Log-on as administrator if needed

5. At your command prompt type

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

6. Hit Enter

6. This will open the system restore wizard...

Then follow the prompts. hope this helps.

One friend that fixes computer is nothing. I've got a whole bunch of the kind. PM for details.

Wrong quote methinks - Tigerbeer has been around a bit longer than you suggest.

However, back on topic - I'm popping into town tomorrow and would willing prop up the OP's bar and talk computer speak for a couple of hours in exchange for a frequently topped up glass of beer - I don't pretend to be an expert but will talk for beer : :o lol:

Had Jim do some work on my compter. He charges like 400 baht per hour, for me, it was 800 baht- Nothing accomplished. I found Jim Brown to be a total waste of time and money

and what were you doing for 2 hours while jim browne was busy on your computer? i would have been there with him finding out if the problem can be tackled or not rather than pay him the 800 baht and bitch about it later.
