I need to send 50,000 baht over to the UK,whats the best, cheapest way? Western Union or from my other halfs Thai bank account?

thanks for any advice

As I was joking with my original post :o , I would certainly suggest that you don't use Western Union, as it is a pretty expensive way of transferring money. I think you will find that using the bank transfer (swift) is your best option.

Might depend on your bank and what they might charge you for wire transfer. It could be cheaper to do the Western Union (not likely). If you trust someone returning to UK, the let them hand carry it and then make the deposit.

I haven't done the PayPal thing and I'm very intrigued.

However, my bank (Krungsri aka Bank of Ayudhya) charges 1150 baht for me to transfer money to Canada. That might be a lot, but it's very secure and is usually there in 1-3 business days.

If anyone does have info about the Paypal idea, please let us know.

BFD!

When ever I've sent money via a bank I've always had to produce a work permit as well before they would entertain the idea of sending money abroad.

might be better off changing money here as exchange rates tend to be a lot worse in the uk.could some family member/good friend of yours give the somebody the money till you get there or go talk the bank and see what they can do in transfering it......or find someone here that has money in uk and they give your somebody and you give them in baht here.
