Dedicated Server In Bkk... What's The International Bandwidth Like?

Featured Replies

I'm getting desperate to increase my international download rates. It doesn't seem to matter what package I subscribe to on either TTT ADSL or TOT IPStar (both home and business plans)... they all give me about 50-100kbps download speeds from the US and Europe. I've gone as high as 8,000 baht plans. I can increase that to 200-300kbps using a download manager but that doesn't work for VOIP or steaming media. Domestic bandwidth is great and always delivers 1000kps and up (or whatever speed I subscribe to).

My idea is signup for a dedicated server in a BKK datacenter and run proxy software on it. I'd then proxy all my home traffic through that server to get faster speeds at home leveraging the dedicated servers faster international bandwidth (if it indeed has faster rates). So what is the international bandwidth like in BKK datacenters? It can't be as bad as it is for home users.

Has anyone done this?

Can you recommend a dedicated server hosting provider in BKK?

This server looks tempting at 3000-4000 baht per month and unmetered bandwidth (but how fast can it pull data from the US?)... http://www.bangkokwebhosting.com/dedicated-server.htm

Thanks,

Dan

I'm not sure that will works! The problem is CAT because the international Bandwith sold from CAT is 10 times than what they really have!

May you check with TRUE because TRUE has an own Gateway for corporate connecton!

Cheers.

Awesome idea, please let me know how well it goes. Could be a reasonable alternative. I'm looking for any solution in the less than 10k/month area as well. I just have to be able to rely on my skype in numbers for example. But no way that they work well at peak hours. Not even super low kbs Internet radio does with my 5mb true package....
