How do you say "immigration" in the context "take me immigration in Soi Suan Phlu"? I can usually get the taxi to take me to the right place but when I try to tell a Thai that I have to go to "immigration" I get some very blank looks.

i believe that just ต.ม. (dtaw maw) is sufficient and may be more widely understood.

so, you could try:

Not all Thai people know what ต.ม. (dtaw maw) is, and also there are more than 1 office of ต.ม., you have to tell the driver which office you want to go. I suggest to write down in Thai and show it to taxi driver.
