March 9, 200818 yr Hi, If a company in, let us say UK, wants to send a few of their "top" people to Thailand for a 5 day conference, could they do so without applying for a w-permit for these people ?
March 9, 200818 yr Define your "work" please. Thailand has hosted various conventions and conferences which involved international delegates. And these delegates does not need WP to attend the conferences or conventions. This would also include exhibitors for international exhibitions held here. So better if you could clarify the "work" you had mentioned . Explorer
March 9, 200818 yr Technically, yes they would need a work permit. Check with the conference organizer and see what they are doing for the other attendees.
March 9, 200818 yr Yeah, but what if they would sit down and start to work on a project ? For such situation there is the option of a “necessary and urgent Work Acknowledgement”. See this knowledgeable post on the subject: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?s=...t&p=1180394 -- Maestro The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
March 9, 200818 yr Technically, yes they would need a work permit. Check with the conference organizer and see what they are doing for the other attendees. I believe meetings etc.. are legally ok. Obviously long term work and actually deriving your income from LOS is different.(Not sure what paid international entertainers and sportsmen do) Interestingly enough why would Thailand be a member of the APEC Business Travel Card scheme (which you can't attach a work permit to) if business trips without WP weren't permitted.Like wise, the 3 year Non Immigrant Business Visa , which can't have a WP attached to it.
