I am wondering what the different marriage ceremonies entail in the 'legal and documented' sense regarding Thai on Thai marriages.

I believe you can have the basic marriage 'party' also a registration of the marriage or either one.

So, if two Thais marry what documentation - if any - would there be to prove this?

For example :- If it is simply the 'marriage party' would the local Amphur have some record, say of the monks attending or other information?

Also where would you look for or enquire about this documented information?

What information would be required regarding names, ages, address and dates? (if you have a persons name, age and address but do not know when they got married in - say - a 5 year period, would it be too much hassle for a search to be made?)

Any info on being able to check would be appreciated.

Thx.

( No, I am not looking to get married yet :o )

To my knowledge there is no official or gov't record of any "ceremonies" held regarding a marriage in LOS. The only verifiable information is the registration that is done by the couple at the amphur. Anything other than that is not a legal marriage.
