Hello

I will give brief decription of my query here. Hope to get valid and decriptive answer.

I and my wife are Indian citizen with valid indian passports. I am working in bangkok, Thailand for nearly a year with valid work permit. Me and my wife have valid visa till Aug 2008. My wife has "Non-Immigrant O visa" with Re-entry permit.

My wife is currently in India and has applied for renewal of passport due to change in name and address after marriage and to also include my name as husband. As per the process, she will get a new passport with appropriate changes, also she will get back the cancelled old passport (with some info regarding changes done).

Now, her valid visa for Thialand is on old passport. I am wordering if this visa still remains valid. As I read somewhere, she just needs to carry both the passports and relevent document (such as marriage certificate) to prove that both passports are linked. However, I just concerned if same thing is true for every contry (expecially for indian citizen entering Thailand).

Please clarify on this issue. I will appreciate any valid help I will get.

Your wife is here in what status? Your dependent wife? If the name change information is spelled out in the passport it may be accepted for entry but I would recommend she use a fax copy of your passport/employment extension to obtain a new non immigrant O visa and then extend it on return. It will cost a bit more but may save some grief. At any rate contact Consulate and get there advise - they may not know either.

The above is only my guess - I have not heard of any actual experience so can not offer more than that.

Thanks for the rwply. My wife's visa status for Thiland is depedent visa, dependent on my visa/work permit. I am also going to contact immigration here for more details.
