How Close Can You Get To Bkk Before The Traffic Gets Too Crazy?

Featured Replies

I like to travel around on my Honda Wave and was thinking about how near is it possible to get to central Bangkok before the traffic gets too crazy. I was thinking of parking up at Ayuthaya and taking public transport from there, but would imagine it's possible to get a lot closer to BKK and find somewhere to park up and transfer to public transport.

Any suggestions? I am talking about coming from the Ayuthaya direction.

Future Park Rangsit.

However if I were you, I wouldn't bother. I have done a lot of long-distance bike rides from Bangkok on my 125cc bike. If you don't need your bike at your destination, come to Bangkok on the bus. For a start, a lot of the roads entering Bangkok have very bad holes in the road surface as the lorries enter Bangkok fully loaded.

As a cyclist, I would say Lat Phrao MRT station, it has parking facilities. There's a few interesting ways of staying out of heavy traffic!

I vote with Briggsy, Future Park Rangsit.  Park there and take one of the many  buses or vans on downtown, or to the Morchit Skytrain & Subway stop.  Much safer than trying to get down Viphawadee-Rangsit or Pholholyothin Roads!!!

There are potholes and cracks in all Bangkok roads - not just the ones entering the city.

Those roads are easy to avoid!

Yep, I'll go with Future Park.

Do note that highway 1 between Ayutthaya and Rangsit is a bit of a racetrack and very busy at peak times, can get pretty hairy in a car let alone a bike :o

might want to leave into BKK very early in the morning, just to avoid the traffic. You should have a relatively safer ride.
