hi,

i am 24, i am married to a thai LADY, i have a child on the way in november(very excited)!

i am currently on tourist visa 60days which i got from laos, i am going to apply for a 1 month extension in chiang mai.

my first question; is there any likelyhood of getting a 1 year extension on tourist due to being here when the baby is born etc

i have a steady but rather poor income overseas of 200 pounds 13000 badt.

we will be moving to bangkok living with her parents who themselves have an income yearly into the millions of badt, im not sure whether this is counted in respects of family income per household? as we will be living with them????

LETS say :o my wife has a business making and selling bags which she has an income of around 40,000- 40,150 a month and paid taxes of 2000 a month and recieved tax paperwork showing so. could this be used without any bank statements as my wife doesnt trust banks :D and be accepted for an extension of stay for 1 year. plus being married and having a child on the way??????????

is there any other way that it would be lausible for me to get this extension?

would this extension qualify me to do 90 day reports to consulate?

thank you kindly for your anticipated answers.

Being married to a Thai, you can apply for a 60-day extension.

Hi, my understanding is that you have to show income of yours, hers or a combination of the pair of you of at least 40 k Baht per month, supported by documented tax receipts going back a year.

Hopefully if you can show the tax paid then you will not need the proof of paid into a bank.

Good luck.

Only the income of yourself and your wife count as family income for your application for annual extension of stay to live with with your wife.

Your wife’s pregnancy does count with your application for extension of stay.

Once you have the annual extension of stay, you make 90-day address reports to your local immigration office, not to the consulate.

1. Having a baby on the way will not allow 1 year extension of stay.

2. Family income of 40k per month or more will. So if wife has the tax proof you and she should visit immigration to start the process - first will be change to single entry non immigrant O visa and then 60 days later you can apply for extension of stay for one year. Change will cost 2,000 baht and extension 1,900 baht.

3. There is a one time 60 day extension available but if you meet the requirements for change of visa no need to postpone. If the business has to be set up it could be used.

4. You can receive single entry non immigrant O visa from most local Consulates which provides a 90 day stay with normal visa payment and copy of marriage certificate/wife ID card. A bank account in your name for 400k anywhere would allow multi entry valid for almost 15 months of stays (with border crossing every 90 days) from Singapore and perhaps others.

5. If you obtain para 2 extension you only have to make address reports every 90 days - you do not have to actually visit Immigration to do them.

A;when my tourist visa runs out are you saying i dont have to go out the country to get a single non immigrant o i can go to chiangmai and change?

B;i dont have 400k are you still saying that i can get a single entry immigrant 0 from chinagmai?

are you saying here that i can get a one off, 60 day extension from the end of my tourist visa to setup business details to change to a non immigrant and this ould be applicable to chiangmai?

thank you sincerely for your answers so far much appreciated

A. It says "Consulates". That is not Chiang Mai Immigration. They are Thai missions in foreign countries that issue visas. By local I mean in Laos/Malaysia/Singapore.

B. Single entry from Consulate does not require financial tests normally (other than usual 20k spending money if asked).

60 day seems to be available at all offices now for one time extension to visit wife.

If/when you meet requirement for extension of stay you can then obtain a single entry non immigrant O visa at Chiang Mai Immigration to use for the one year extension.

thanks lopburi,

could i just run though a possible scenario so that my stupidity can be overcome about WHERE i can do WHAT?

ALSO;

i have also found out that my wife has had deposits in a bank of her name of well over 40,000 badt for the last 12 months, does she need to show any proof of where it has come from.?

i get an extension in chiangmai for one off 60 days to see my wife?

i then at the end of this period go to laos and apply for non immigrant 0 marriage visa single entry of 90 days?

after this period i can get my extension based on being married with my wife having an amount of 40,000 or more coming in for the last 6 months?

please correct me on any mistakes, once again lopburi you have saved another person completely perplexed by the misunderstanding of others/complexity of visa's have a clearer picture to everything and you have made my wife very happy.

thanks have a drink on me

Money in the bank of 40k (or 400K if that is what you mean) will not help. You or wife or combined must have proven income of 40k per month. For local funds that will be tax payment records. For your foreign income it will normally require your Embassy to issue paperwork.

The time-line will work if you meet the requirements at the end of that time. Check with Chiang Mai on exactly what they will require for proof as it has varied from time, to place.

thank you for your reply!

my wife has had an income of money into an account with her name 40,000 badt or more for the last 6 months, she does not have a business and does not work but she can get bank statements to show the money has come in on each individual month. i understand that you are implying that she should have payed tax on this and therefore would have invoices but she doesnt.

so would copies of the bank statements in your mind NOT be ebough for an immigration officer, or could this be something they might overlook.

thank you for your continued help.

Tax payments will be required from all reports we have seen.

thank you for yur timely responses...

could you please inform of how many tax forms are needed going back ie 3 months, 6 etc

if my wife registered a business name and payed tax on the income ie. next three months would you see this as sufficient enough to represent all that the officer in charge would consider needed to except for the extension of 1 year.

If you get a visa, how are you going to be married, raise a child, and live in Bangkok on 13000 baht per month?? If you can do this, you should write a book about it and become rich.

Sorry abouting putting this in the middle of post #1 TypeO
