I know there are many restrictions on taking foods to Oz from Thailand. Does anyone know if I can take lots of dried baby foods and the bottles of baby food? I expect it will be ten times the price there.

Cheers

If it is more than 10% egg or contains egg but doesn't state the percentage then it will be confiscated for destruction.

In general food, seeds and nuts are not allowed. It may be possible to get approval from the Australian Quarrantine service BEFORE you come. Here is their web page. It may be best to call them on one of the numbers listed at the bottom of the page and discuss it. http://www.daffa.gov.au/aqis/travel/enteri...ralia/cant-take

Baby food will be more expensive in Australia, but not ten times more. Dairy products may in fact be a similar price as much of the dairy is imported to Thailand from Australia anyway. In general, basic foods are 3 to 4 times more expensive in Australia. Here is the price list for baby food at Woolworths, Australia's largest supermarket chain.

If you declare it, Quarantine will look at the foods, and generally decide on the spot whether you can keep it. Otherwise it will be seized (with no further consequences).

Two disadvantages - you will be held up for some time while they examine the food, and you may lose it if is not allowed.
