Learning Mandarin In Chiang Mai?

Featured Replies

I will be going to China for 4 weeks in May / June - and want to learn the 'basics' i.e numbers/greetings/shopping etc.

Any recommendations as to where I can enrol in Chiang Mai?

p.s not interested in script etc - just 'basic' spoken Mandarin.

p.p.s anything on Web I could download for my iPOD?

Many thanks,

Tony :o

Take a look and see where OKLS is up there and see if they can help (Oriental Knowledge Language School) They teach Chinese and Japanese and Korean I think. Usually located in the better malls etc

Their number is here and the home office is located in DinDaeng BKK

There's a Mandarin learning center on Huay Kaew Rd just a few shops down from The Pub (on your left hand side coming from Central Kad Suan Kaew). It's above an electrical appliance dealership.

Hope this helps. :o

Jia Jia Sport Club on Mae Joe Road (Tanawan Village) has Mandarin lessons and tutors. I believe it is 300 baht per hour

There is a big Chinese language school in the road behind Computer Plaza. Go down Hatsadi Sewi Road and take the first right, it is on your right about half way along.

Thanks.

Went there this afternoon - it's called Mandarin Education School (ma-ed.com).

They provide 30 hour packages for c4400 Baht......BUT...... it's taught via the medium of the Thai language.

Someone else - off-line - suggested I try the YMCA.

Went there also.

They can arrange PRIVATE tuition c5000 baht for 20 hours.

Think I will go for this one - but only after checking other 2 locations first.

My thanks to those of you who responded to my initial query.

p.s can anyone suggest a source via the WEB - where I could download - for free - some very basic Mandarin for my iPOD?

Tony :D
