Easy Vocab

Featured Replies

I was just reading something and came across the vocab ไม้กวาดเสี้ยนตาล. It appears to mean a long-handled brush for removing cobwebs but a literal translation gives you "palm splinter broom".

Have I got the meaning right? If so, does anyone why it is so called?

Sounds like you've got it right. It's those traditional brooms you see sold on carts, with the stiff wooden bristles, right? I never knew they were called that, but it makes sense to me.

If I'm not mistaken ไม้กวาดหยากไย่ is more commonly used. Is that right?
