I just finished completing my year extension for the non-O visa. Things have changed since last year (at least in Chiang Mai).

As any foundation volunteer knows, you must receive a letter from City Hall (the Dept. of Culture in the province I believe). The letter is part of the application for your year visa extension. City Hall informed me that I now have to "check-in" at City Hall every 120 days IN ADDITION to my regular 90 day check-in at Immigration. If I fail to check-in at City Hall, they will refuse to write a new letter for me next year.

Has anybody else been told this? It was not the case last year so perhaps only people who've recently renewed know about it.

It's now official.

I just received my notice in the mail. All foundation volunteers living in Chiang Mai must report to City Hall every 120 days. The reports will be used to determine whether work permits will be renewed.

The letter was sent from the Fai Amnoey Gan (Administration) Department 053-112592
