When You Get Tourist Visa In Thailand Do They....

Featured Replies

I Am a Kiwi so I can stay in Thailand for up to 30 days without Visa.

Say I apply for Tourist Visa 15 days or so after arriving, do they back-date the 60 day visa to start when I first arrived?

Or do they start the 60 days from the day I apply and get accepted?

If some can answer that , Thanks. :o

You do not get a Tourist Visa in Thailand.

When your 30 days are nearly up. You leave Thailand and come back again to get another 30 days.

Or you go to an Embassy or Consulate in another country (Malaysia , Laos etc) and buy a Tourist Visa.

I believe you can only apply for a tourist visa at a Thai Embassy or High Comission office outside Thailand.

Wow. Ok. I'm glad i made this post.

THanks heaps

You should obtain tourist visa prior to travel or you may not even get on the plane. That 30 day visa exempt entry requires you have proof of exit at the end of the time (which does not seem to be your situation). Airlines can be very strict on that.

There is no THai embassy in Christchurch New zealand, so no way to apply prior.

I can spend time in Cambodia , and Laos. Sureley my Return ticket should be enough proof of exit? (will be 3 months).

My friend just did what i'm going to be doing, and he had no troubles.

I could apply by post, but that would be last resort...

Notice Lopburi said "MAY NOT get on the plane"

Maybe your friends were lucky, maybe you will be, maybe not.

If the airline check they would need to see a ticket out of Thailand within 30 days.

Are you saying I will need proof of leaving Thailand and going to Cambodia in 30 days to get onto the plane ?

Like a bus ticket from thailand to cambodia? what do you suggest? since I want to be backpacking for 3 months.

You will require an air ticket out of Thailand to a country you have proof that you can enter. As said not all airline people check that closely but many do. Millions of people do obtain visas by mail and there is a whole business built around providing this service so it is not something that is unusual - and is not that hard to do yourself as forms would either be downloaded or only require a phone call to have sent to you.
