Anyone know what time frame you can apply for your visa extension prior to the expiry date ?

For example if my visa expires 15th of the month, can I go and apply on the 1st ? or is there a minimum time frame.

Cheers.

as far as i know mr paddy you should be ok ive done it a few times but not sure if different visas have different rules reguarding that, but gen speaking i think you should be fine.

just on that if you have a further visa question add your country and type of visa and dates etc, helps people like me knowing if i know the answer or not,

I was wondering how long until someone thought I was Irish.

MrPaddy is in relation to 'rice' paddy, sorry.

As for the visa, it is an imm 'O' for the 12 month extension.

I want to know if applying 2 weeks early is ok. I cannot see why not, as it would/should only mean that I lose 2 weeks this year and my date for expiry will be 2 weeks earlier next year.

After all what do people do that will not be in the country over that period, surely they apply prior to being away no matter what the timeframe.

Thanks for the help.

That last bit was important information. For a 12 month extension of stay you apply with less than 30 days remaining and 3 weeks is suggested but can be up to end of the extension. You lose no time as your one year extension will start at the end of your current permitted to stay until stamp (this is new in the last year - it used to start for your arrival day).

Reading through several posts about visas, can get you a little punch drunk.

Is it true that the request for photos now is only for new marriage applications ?

Also is it true that the proof of income of 40k or greater is also only for new marriage applications.

I am extending a 'supporting thai child' visa and will be taking in exactly what I took in last year.

Fingers crossed and cheers.

The 40k income must be proven each and every year for family extensions of stay with Thai wife. They seem to have been updating folders photos so if they have recent set there probably will not be a new requirement. There is no such thing as supporting Thai child visa (we are talking about extensions of stay I believe). There is also no provision under the current regulations for extensions of stay for supporting a Thai child. There are two ways a stay could be extended - one would be the over age 50 to live with child and that requires no financial conditions. The other is the discretionary power of Immigration which may be what was used last year. So all we can say is to take whatever you did last year.

I applied this year for a "living with my Thai child" extension as I am 63 (previously it was Thai wife support) and I had to take photos plus the usual stuff that I used to take.

The main problem I have with Suan Phlu is the "agents" who push and shove to get infront of everybody else thus slowing the system for their own gain.

I feel that there should be a seperate place for them to go to, preferably 20 km away.

Well, tossing up what to do, go and try again next week or so, or just get frigging married.....oh the shock and horror of that.

Sunbelt should light a fire under their staffs <deleted>. Went to see them and the staff member was to call me back next day with answers.... weeks later and still nothing.

Never used an agent before, but sometimes you wonder if they can pull a rabbit out of their arse, seems not only they cannot, they dont even want to try.....rabbits not hurt if you put a carrot there first.
