Wan, my 23 year old companion, does not drive a motorcycle and has just expressed an interest in learning how.

While I'm a multi-year advance trained rider currently with a BMW R1200C and could do it I feel that teaching a friend to ride complicates a relationship.

So, any ideas as to where to find a competent driving school or instructor who can teach in Thai and is located in Pattaya or Bangkok?

Thanks in advance,

Rainwalker

:o I can see some great replies coming in for this question.

Sorry rainwalker, I can't answer the question as I've never seen a competent Thai teacher in LOS tbh. :D

hmmm I have never given it any thought, I'll ask G to look into it tonight as he has expressed interest in riding with me.

My Mrs had car driving lessons at place on Pattaya Klang, opposite and just before Foodland (heading out of town), big yellow sign outside.

Don't know if they have a bike instructor but would be worth checking out. They did a good job with her driving lessons.

Honda has a riding program setup in Samut Prakarn. As you're going North from there towards Sam Lhong on Suhkhumvit, when you get to the Ring Road turn left. They have signs up so it's hard to miss.

A friend told me about a driving school in Pattaya that instructs both new car drivers and motorcycle riders...

The driving school he mentioned is past Friendship Market on Pattaya Tai as you come up from the beach. It is on the same side of the road as the market and seems closer to the corner of #3 Road than it is to the market. It is hard to miss as there are graphic road signs (Right turn only, school ahead, etc) all over the front of the shop.

The course is 10 hours long and has a 1-1 student/instructor ratio at a cost of 3,000 baht.

16 hours of instruction is 4,500 baht and 20 hours costs 5,500 baht.

They also supply the training motorcycle.
