Drug dealer given six years in jail

Claimed to have been tortured to confess

The provincial criminal court here has handed down a six-year jail term to a woman who had accused a gang of Border Patrol Police of extortion and forcing her to confess to drug possession. Jari Dokmaihom was arrested in 2006 on a charge of having 1,000 methamphetamine pills by the 41st BPP, led by Nat Chonnithiwanit, who is being investigated on a range of allegations from extortion to abduction.

Jari, who accused police gang members of torturing her with electric shocks to force her to confess, insisted to the court that she was innocent.

However, the judges yesterday referred to the testimony of Phrasaeng police in Surat Thani, which said a hospital found no traces of injuries to her body that could prove she had been tortured.
