Entering the hotel through the front doors, walk down the left side of the lobby, turn in to the corridor just before the Thai Airways office and there is the "Suvarnabhumi Airport Immigration Checkpoint" desk, tel: 02 131 1096, open Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 4.30 am (closed for lunch noon till 1pm?).

I did my 90 days reporting here last time; they were so helpful, 4 staff, with one attending to me including advising me how to fill the form in, the whole process took about 3 minutes from arriving to leaving!

They told me that it is possible to do annual visa renewals here – as there is immediate service, free parking, and no waiting with the Suan Phlu rabble, it is a definite possibility for my next renewal. The catch is that ones file has to be transferred from Suan Phlu (if that’s where you used last) to this checkpoint, and it wasn’t explained to me how one goes about doing that but I’ll try and find out when i go again this week.

The hotel buffet across the lobby is exceptional value too!

Did my 90 day reporting here for the 2nd time last week, and can report that there were 5 staff and just one other customer in my couple of minutes there. Very efficient again.

I had been told on my last visit that as i have thai wife and live in the area that i could transfer my paperwork from SuanPhlu to renew my visa annually but on this occasion nobody seemed to know too much about it so i gave up asking.

The desk does not close at lunchtime, and it is best to call the Novotel information desk to check the imm desk is open before going as they do close the imm desk for days from time-to-time for various reasons.

I’m thinking that perhaps more people should use this immigration office in the Novotel hotel as otherwise it might get closed down.

OK, standing by on your report re shift of Suan Plu's file to Swampyboom.  It's an hour and a half drive down to SP from Thanyaburi, then there's the parking hassle and the CROWDs.  Alternative, park somewhere on Sukumvit and Skytrain & Subway over to Sathorn then the #62 bus.  In either case, blows several hours out of a day.

Swampyboom is just one hour down the Eastern Ring Road and a rather more comfortable drive.
