I have work permit allowing me to work at a Thai company. I am on a non-imm B, one year.

However, with a Thai partner I want to start an unrelated business- what are the hurdles with regard to this- visa and wp wise? I will keep working at the original company while establishing the business in spare time.

You can start a new business / partnership etc without any effect on your current visa & wp status.

However, if you want to "work" in the new business / partnership, I am led to believe that you will need to apply for a second wp.
