April Fools Day Stories Vs Reality In Thailand

I'm getting very confused. So what's new ... you might say ?

Several recent stories have struck me as being prime material for April Fools Day, but weren't :-

- The Thai government is to spend B700-million to build a 9km railway in Laos !

- The government bans the sale of camoflage-clothing, as people can't tell which are the real soldiers !

- There is definitely a military coup being planned, says the PM, except he now says the media made it up ?

- The plans for nuclear power-plants in Thailand are criticised as being slightly unsafe.

- Thaksin returns to Bangkok, and is met by only a handful of people, at the airport !

How are we supposed to spot, which stories are a wind-up, and which are straight reporting ? Amazing Thailand indeed ! :o

There are two I can't figure out yet.

- The Government spokesman tells Samak to shut up

- The Government plans to spend an equivalent of running 30 baht scheme for six years to grow biouel crops.

Good points, indeed hard to tell which is which. Like the so call 30 days ban of sale of alcohol in Phuket. :o:D

Had an English guy tonight flapping about an alleged Bangkok Post article stating alcohol to be illegal in Thailand from October, reminded him of the date and he appeared to be much happier after this!!!!!!!!!!!

Every day is April Fool's day in Thailand. Let's face it if you take half the things here seriously you'd earn the right to wear a white jacket with very tight straps every day. :o

Are you talking about Thailand or the US? :D

Both I'm afraid. :o Though LOS doesn't harm the rest of the world as USA do.

Don't forget to include the UK, and Australia with the US, they are harming most of the same places that the US is.

So you could have said,

Both I'm afraid. :D though LOS doesn't harm the rest of the world as UK do.

or

Both I'm afraid. :D though LOS doesn't harm the rest of the world as Australia do.

Well, you could also state that no matter what, threads always have to include some cheap shot at Americans. Constipated today? Blame the Americans. Power supply problems because the german built generators broke, blame America. If the Japanese built BKK subway malfunctions , blame those pesky yankees. Why just the other day, I got a screwed up clinical trial protocol from someone claiming to be Dutch. Didn't fool me. I could tell she was an American because she doesn't eat mayonnaise with her fries and asks for "ketchup".

And no, I am not from the US of A, but I did have an American girlfriend once and she was rude to my dog, after he chewed her shoes.

Got some really bad news from the UK yesterday that sounded like an April Fools joke in poor taste. Unfortunately, it isn't. :o
