I know how you feel. I just payed £600 for a flight with Thai crapways BKK TO LHR. You might want to buy a open return now, as its only going to get more expensive.

April 6, 200818 yr again it seems that about anyone, anyone as single case has to learn the realities of airticketing from Europe. There simply, if booked via the ''classic''airlines No cheap singles at all. The very same applies for trips to the USA (also due to their visa-entry rules). And please spare us the --language that seems to be unavoidable in Thaivisa posters when they cannot find what they hope for. The only alterntaive know of (there may be more, please let us hear them!), is book online on airberlin.com from DUSSeldorf in Germany, singles from 229 eur/all in, and still plenty of empty space for around that date Then add some low-cost to there or nearby (like Köln-Bonn, Cologne for you or Dortmund, an easy 1 hr traintrip away), check the full list on whichbudget.com. Airberlin itself conects from LSN (stansted) but not from Scotland). It s a decent holday-maker airline with basic service (food+softdrinks free, pay for headset+alco), and often reported not too wide leg-room. But from now till early june its superlow-season with RETURNS a plenty from 499/555 eur (from Germany again)=less as your single!
