It seems like the twins had a night out drinking whisky alone at this deserted "beach" - but how long would they have left been alone anyway? A bunch of night-active and thirtsty Thai guys would have offered their companionship. Welcomed or not. Especially since "many witnesses" had seen the girls wandering around.

"Koh Larn volunteer police, Mr. Porn Janhom (52), told officers that he saw those two girls were walking along Sa-Mae beach the day before." (Pattaya daily news).

What the happened, we will never know. But it is obvious, that Pattaya City News had presented the more than questionable outcome on 12 April already, while Pattayadailynews stated later the same day, that "Police officers revealed that the victims must be attacked and robbed by at least two people, by hitting a hard object on their heads".

What strikes me, is, how quickly Pattayacitynews knew about the outcome of this case, even before the autopsy has been performed...

<<<<<<<It appears that evidence collected suggests a third party was not involved in their death and according to Police Major General Bundit, the Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, who went to the scene on Tuesday Evening, head wounds on the victims appear to have been self-inflicted following a night of heavy drinking. The pair was thought to have hit their heads on rocks on the beach and when they awoke, they found themselves in the water. One of the twins is then believed to have tied her hands together with her sister in an attempt to save both of them from the water, however due to their intoxicated state and tiredness, they are both believed to have drowned and their bodies were then washed up on the beach. The parents of the deceased have reviewed the evidence and agree with the current Police theory which is backed up with toxicology reports and post mortem results. Police have now closed the case.>>>>>

I am HOWLING!!! This will be in every weird news column by tomorrow.

Believe it! Or not!

mmm...

Would anyone be interested in a service that professionally investigates your untimely death whilst in T- Land?

Pay up front or convenient estate attachment.

If these young women dived in and beat their heads on rocks or one beat the other's head with rocks or jumped or fell or were held under water and were washed with the tide to the discovery site, how is it their bag is nearby ?

What is Korean press saying ?

That's a BOLD statement!

But seriously, if getting really drunk on a beach could cause the death of 2 sisters than surely there must be hundreds if not thousands of corpses found monthly after koh Phanyang's full moon parties....

Yes, it's amazing. But we all know this is Thailand - the Land of Scams, Slimes, Skanks,... What else would you expect? Just gotta remember to expect the unexpected.

All foreigner deaths in Thailand are accidents or suicides of course. Don't you know? Gotta sweep under the rug Thai crimes perpetrated against foreigners to keep the tourist cash rolling in. At all cost do not tarnish the pristine image of Thailand. What a f@cken joke. It's all about the money.

What I can't understand is why any female tourist would want to go to Pattaya in the first place. Pattaya is no resort. It's a big sh!thole full of whores, johns, and a slew of misfits. It's Disneyland for males seeking pootang. Drink and get laid. Ahh... Pattaya...

Words of wisdom. The scum of the universe stays in Pattaya.

Korean press is saying very little apparently. Might be that unlike Thai newspapers they like to get the story completely correct before they put a story around that some twins drank themselves into a stupor, tied themselves up in an attempt to save themselves from drowning on a rocky sea front where the tide couldn't reach them.

It is then thought the body was dragged into the water and the second woman who is thought to have killed her, tied her hands together with the victim and it is thought she then committed suicide by drowning, using the weight of the dead woman to pull her under the water.

It's amazing how often foreigners tie themselves up and then kill themselves in some bizzarrely improbable way that absolves the police of any responsibility to go looking for a murderer. What a lame-arse theory.

Does anyone remember that farang found hanging off of a billboard in Bangkok a couple of years ago. In the morning some commuters noticed a little something different from the day before. The farang, not from the area, had a plastic bag over his head tightly bound around the neck and his hands tied behind his back before he was somehow able to finish himself off. This was determined even before they cut him down. Another farang suicide deduced in record time. Case closed. The hanging victim was able to beat the "degree of difficulty score" from the previous month where a farang committed suicide with three revolver shots to the head. I believe what made this one even harder was that his hands were bound behind his back.

SOURCE: Pattaya City News: April 16th 2008

Investigation closed in the Korean death case from Larn Island.

We have been closely following the case from Larn Island which resulted in the death of two Korean Female Tourists. We can confirm that the Parents of the victims, who are now known to be twins, have arrived in Thailand and have formally identified their daughters.

They have been named as Miss Park Ji Hee and Miss Park Mi Hee, both aged 28. The pair have been living here in Thailand for the last 2 years and came to Larn Island by boat on 10th April at 9am. They were found dead the next morning.

It appears that evidence collected suggests a third party was not involved in their death and according to Police Major General Bundit, the Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, who went to the scene on Tuesday Evening, head wounds on the victims appear to have been self-inflicted following a night of heavy drinking. The pair was thought to have hit their heads on rocks on the beach and when they awoke, they found themselves in the water.

Libya 115 says

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. This is the most absurd news story I have ever known. First; double suicide, then murder and suicide, then double murder, now accidental death. Rubbish. These two Korean women were living in LOS for two years. What were they doing? Did they have business interests? Did they have business partners? This story stinks. Investigation: NOW!

I agree Libya, very weird and odd, but maybe we forget one thing...

The shame of the Korean parents, the lose of face; maybe both parties (parents/Korea Embassy & Police department) came to a kind of agreement that this version/story was to be published and thus 'case closed'.

It could be that there was much more to the 2-years presence in Thailand of the twins and that the parents don't want it to be known/published.

Maybe................ we will never know...

UNBELIVABLE UNBELIVABLE UNBELIVABLE UNBELIVABLE

The killer of these girls must be celebrating, the completely useless police have given them a free ticket to freedom, the case is closed and no one is looking for them. what a result for the killer/killers!! It sounds too good to be true! but the scary thing is that this is true.

The poor girls dont get any justice.

all for what, just so that the police can get away without having to actually do some detective work and so that they can protect the tourism trade in pattaya, after the murders of the 2 Russian ladies last year they want to cover this one up.

This is a joke. I am as shocked as anyone reading this forum when i see the words "Case Closed"

This case should have been taken by the bangkok serious crime unit, not chonburi !!

I would like to know how the Korean Press are covering this story. I would like to know what these girls have been doing in pattaya for 2 years, i guess they must have been working or something? people know them their must be hundreds of clues surrounding this case if someone would bother to look.. I am in shock that the case has been closed so quick.

These corrupt Thai police should be investigated them selves over this decision. The international press should cover this story and expose these foolish thai police for what they are and put pressure on Thailand to re investigate the case properly and honestly!

.......it could very well be that the parents decided to let it rest...

It is one of these moments and circumstances that it is very difficult for us, Farang, to understand and comprehend what's going on in the heads of people in the East...

note: the twins did not live in Pattaya, they lived -for 2 years- in a rented apartment in Chiangmai; one of the open questions with no answers though.

Anybody got any statistics on the murder rate( or should we say suspicious deaths) of Farangs in Thailand. How does it compare to other places? I bet its real bad!

If Thailands tourists stop coming the people of Thailand can stand up take a bow and say "Mai pen rai" Time for the people of Thailand to say "enough" start asking question? It may happen ,but only after things have gone wrong, when the tourists stop coming and the rich start to notice there wealth evaporating.

Posted by another on the Phuket Forum, British Govt. web site says you are 5 times more likely to be murdered in Thailand than in GB. (Applies to Thais and Foreigners)

If you were in Philadelphia in the US, you would be 20 times more likely to be murdered in Philadelphia than in GB.

The idea that because they had money in their pockets,so it could not have been a robbery is just crazy.

Didn't they just catch some guy that stabbed a woman and ran away to Burma. He said that he was going to rape her but she screamed so he killed her? No evidence of a rape, so therefore it must have been suicide?

Maybe these two women were drinking with some people, they were killed or knocked out and tied up, to later drown because they were below the high water line? That would explain why there bag is found away from them dumped out in the bushes. The killer(s) searched through the bag, took anything valuable and then dumped it. Did they have mobile phones? Are they missing? Any calls made on them after their deaths? Did they have a camera with them on their trip? Was it found? Lots of things that are worth more money than a few baht in their pockets.

I wonder if you lived in the US or GB or ............ how likely would your case be 'solved' within 30 minutes of your body being found? I think these countries could learn something from the investigative expertise found in Thailand. Amazing Thailand! :o

Perhaps , but it really isn't their decision. A crime may well have been commited and the law mandates, and we the public, deserve a thorough investigation.

I believe , from the article in the questionably reliable news source, that this is being hailed as an accidental death. J-F-C!

Are the Thai authorities under orders to downplay murder/crime for the sake of tourism or Thailands reputation?

A face saving policy that disregards facts?

I lived in Pattaya for years. During that time someone tried to get into my house one night while my GF and I were sleeping. The police didn't even want to take a report. There were finger prints everywhere, sliding glass doors were off there tracks, Windows open. The bars keep them out. Police said " get a big dog". Nothing ever happened.

Another time two guys on a motorbike tried to get my cell phone, had to fight them off. Went to police station to report only to be told that there was nothing they could do. I insisted they take a report as they were to lazy or just didn't want this to appear as another crime.

I would guess that the number of crimes on the books are maybe at best 10% of the true number. This is one screwed up place to live.

And yes, I am now out of there ! The place only gets me angry when I think of all I have seen there. :o

This is my thinking.

The Pattaya police are not stupid - and they've probably got a pretty good idea about what happened on the island - and you can be sure it isn't what has been released to the media!

The case stinks to high heaven - not that Pattaya's BIB give a dam_n!

Virtually no investigation of any sort.

Case closed. Easy.
