george Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Thailand to nearly double NGV stations by year end BANGKOK: -- Thailand will this year establish more natural gas vehicle (NGV) service stations to 330 from 180 stations presently to cope with rising demand from motorists, a senior Energy Ministry official said today. Metta Banturngsuk, director-general of Energy Business Department, said Thai domestic demand for NGVs is seen to be increasing because the NGVs are considered environmentally friendly, inexpensive and safe for motorists. Currently, NGV fuel costs Bt8.50 per kilogramme, resulting in motorists being able to save costs when using the energy source on the long-term, as it costs much less than gasoline or gasohol. But motorists, especially taxi drivers, have complained that it is difficult to find NGV filling stations, even in Bangkok, and almost impossible upcountry. Realising of the problem, Mr. Metta said the number of NGV stations would almost double the end of the year. --TNA 2008-04-13
astral Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I looked at this system a few years ago. The problem is that one bulky tank full only allows 200km. More filling stations will help.
slapout Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Why are they not looking at LPG, many fill stations in place to fill cooking containers. Tank will go about 80 % of a gasoline or diesel tank in mileage.
