How To Say Politely Please Stop Interupting

Featured Replies

I am getting fed up of trying to talk to people, my wife for instance, only to have other Thais rudely break into the conversation and take over talking to my wife.

A mate suggested that I say something like khor marriyat but when I asked my wife she looked blank and did not seem to understand the phrase.

I think that it maens something like please be polite and give respect but I am not 100% sure.

It is getting extremely boring and annoying and I would like to stop it happening.

I really need a conversation stopper to use on the other person.

I get frustrated with this sometimes and say Kor Tort Sow wow. Or Sow wow on it's own. Neither are really very polite and I think Sow wow is Esarn or Lao for 'shutup' or 'stop your mouth'. Kor Tort - Excuse Me.

Kor Tort Sow wow - Excuse me, stop your mouth.

Sow wow - stop your mouth.

I haven't been belted yet for it, but, I usually back off a little just in case.

I think the Thai Version of this is Kor Tort, My Poot - Excuse me, don't speak.

Can't help anymore, I'm lousy at Thai but can speak quite well when I've had a few to drink!
