April 16, 200818 yr As the Random Thread "threw" up this idea I thought it was time for a "Hall of Fame" The rules are pretty simple :- :One person to nominate and one to second. :Nominees to be either wacky, zany or just plain wonderfully weird. In case of any disputes Nurse Diesel to adjudicate. As it's my thread I will Automatically install Spike Milligan as our Patron With Tommy Cooper to assist in any official ceremonies. Over to you folks. . . .
April 16, 200818 yr Boon Mee as the Grand Poobah of Bedam and The (original) Gentleman as 1st runner up.
April 16, 200818 yr Yes, this is the way I thought it was going to go, but reading the other thread, I'm not so sure. Ken are you after comedic Bedlamites or professional (zany) entertainers, etc?
April 16, 200818 yr Author ' I would prefer it to be people who have made some contribution to bringing fun and laughter on a larger scale rather than just Thai Visa. Perhaps someone else would like to start a thread for TV nominees. Thanks
April 16, 200818 yr Yes, that's what I thought. Well I'll give you a rather obvious one to (try to) get the ball rolling - John Cleese. Any seconders? E: I should mention, it might have been better to call the thread 'Comedic Hall ~' rather than 'Bedlam Hall ~' to avoid the confusion. (You can always request a Mod to rename it, if you so desire.) (You can always request a Mod to rename it, if you so desire.) A valid suggestion Ping, but first perhaps we'd better float the idea of renaming the thread, and then perhaps we can put it to the vote. Crow Boy has been away far too long. (Come back soon C.B.) In the meantime your nomination for Senor John Cleese has been accepted would anyone like to second ? reason for edit - my bad spelling agin ! Edited April 16, 200818 yr by LeungKen
April 16, 200818 yr Author Chownah would deserve the prize! No one was weirder than him around here... N.B. Current and past Bedlam posters can not be nominated.
April 16, 200818 yr Hancocks Half Hour, neva missed it. Yeah, I will second his nomination. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I would like to nominate a femme....... Petulia Clarke, seconder please. ...... remember her when she, and myself were kids, she and Arthur Askey were a great pair. She went on to an illustrious singing career. Still have heaps of her songs on disk. Edited April 16, 200818 yr by Zpete
April 16, 200818 yr Hey, I never realised Petula Clark was anything other than a singer. You live and learn... Ok, I'll second her as you were so good as to second dear old Tony.
April 16, 200818 yr Author Zpete I thought Hilda Baker might have been a favourite of yours rather than Pet Clarke - perhaps MrBJ will nominate "Our 'Ilda" !
April 16, 200818 yr Author I have absolutely no idea why the name Norah Batty sprang to mind. Seconders could be thin on the ground for Ms Batty I suspect Thad
April 16, 200818 yr Hey, I never realised Petula Clark was anything other than a singer. You live and learn...Ok, I'll second her as you were so good as to second dear old Tony. Pet Clarke started her singing as a 9 y/old in an underground staion / theatre, London, during an air raid, 1942. She had gone there to record a message for an uncle in the forces. She volunteered, against her fathers wishes, to sing a song whilst the bombs were falling, the people all worried and fearful, were spellbound by her performance, which was recorded. Played later on BBC.......... a star was born. Long story, but glad she did go.......... I ramble..........lol Her association with Arthur was in vaudville shows. Gee, she is older than me.......... wow. I will let Thadd have Norah Batty....... Edited April 16, 200818 yr by Zpete
April 16, 200818 yr I will let Thadd have Norah Batty....... Awww cheers..... you're all heart ..... an early night is in order methinks, just enough time to round up the whippets and warm up some black puddin'
April 16, 200818 yr I would like to nominate Benny Hill (for running all the beer and footy nights ) And Rigsby as his second in command sorry to drift just thought what about a thread on who would run the best beer bar and who would they employ ??????????????????? sssssssssssnake
April 16, 200818 yr I second the motion for Benny Hill. Still one of the best ever. And on the American side, from that generation, Milton Berle.
April 16, 200818 yr For his outrageous sense of fun and wacky demeanour, it has to be...................... Gordon Brown.
April 17, 200818 yr Author I nominate Salvador Dali, just cos he's Salvador Dali! Come on in "Crazy Sal". Bedlam's Hall needs you and many more like you. (Great Choice)
April 17, 200818 yr For his outrageous sense of fun and wacky demeanour, it has to be...................... Gordon Brown. Does George Bush even know who Gordon Brown is? He probably thinks Tony Blair's put on some weight and had a stroke!
April 17, 200818 yr Author I'd personally like to see Screaming Lord Sutch get seconded as he was wacky enough to accuse Margaret Thatcher of wearing Union Jack Knickers !
April 17, 200818 yr I'd like to nominate a bloke I heard about who used to work in a factory in my home town. Everybody said he was really weird and I think he has probably never been nominated for anything before and would be delighted to realize that a secret subforum of a greater website dedicated to a discussion of Thailand had considered him special.
April 18, 200818 yr Can I nominate myself ? .....like I said on another thread, I don't like to waste time. I'll even change my name to Brian...if that helps. Edited April 18, 200818 yr by sibeymai
April 18, 200818 yr I was Brian too, but found out I was spelling it incorrectly. Shoulda bin..... BRAIN........
