Enroll At Cmu For Thai Language

Featured Replies

My man and I have heard that if you enroll in a language class at CMU, you can get a 1-year Visa. Since we've been studying Thai and could only improve, and very much want the Visa, can anyone advise? Is this true, and how do we go about applying? IA've seen the ads for Visas with language schools advertised but they're in BKK or Pattaya and we want to be in CM. Anyone? Please this would make us so happy! Thanks in advance. Oh, and I did explore the CMU's website but didn't find what I was looking for.

Oops, and I forgot to mention, we're USA, he's 53, I'm 38, he's retired and we will be interested in a retirement visa there...but we'd have to get married first!

No responses at all...waaah... :o

Position is that when you apply to CMU they will furnish you with the required documentation, which you then take to a consulate or embassy outside Thailand and apply for the visa. As I understand it rules are different for language schools and for officially recognised tertiary education establishments, who have more leeway, but in principal a one year visa is issued which is subject to 'reporting/validity renewal' every 90 days which can be done in country.

Do some hard work and check out the site, tons of info on what you want.

rrose070, when you enrol for your Thai language course at CMU the university has to give you the documents you need to apply for a non-immigrant visa category ED at a Thai consulate. CMU will know what documents to give you. If they mail the documents to you in the USA, apply for your visa there.

Get a single-entry non-ED visa, then in Thailand apply for extensions of stay as required, as long as you continue your studies.
