Video Lighting

Featured Replies

Hello there

Anybody out there in the Pattaya Rayong area knowledgable with video lighting ? Mainly for the purposes of interviewing other people indoors.

High Definition Camera to be used (as in full 1920 x 1080p)

any help would be much appreciated

thanks

Hec

What camera do you have is it a professional HDcam or a domestic HDVcam like a Z1?

Do you have any lights at the moment?

The easiest lighting for interviews is 3 point lighting, which is where you have a red head (650-1000w) which is used as the key placed around the 45 degree angle in front of the subject, then a red head/yellow head that is the first fill which is less powerful than the key placed at the opposite 45 degree angle and then a red/yellow head at a 45 degree angle on the same side as the fill that can either light the back of the subject or the background.

You can easily just use 2 point light which is the key and fill but this can make the image flat.

Hi Ciaphas

Thanks for the help. It is a Sony PMW EX1 so i guess you could say it is at least semi professional. It has a mountain of greast features that i am still learning about.

Will take what you said and put to use. KNow any places near pattaya that would have such lighting?

thanks again

Take a trip to Manila or Hong Kong and visit the Lowel dealer. They will have anything you need.

Just did a job for the first time using XCD had a nightmare in the edit getting the footage in and out the avid!!! Looks like a good cam especially if the promises of non-real time digitising hold true. Just have to wait for edit systems to become more compatible. Using a camera like the one you have, I have found that when you look at the off line pictures they look pretty flat but in the grade they come to life as HD is far more forgiving and flexible than digi.
