I am wanting to re-locate from Singapore to Bangkok but am a little confused with the new immigration laws and wanted to make everything clear before I make the jump. Today I got a 60 day single entry visa from the Thailand Embassy here in Singapore (that's all I could get). I read somewhere on this site that if, and correct me if I'm wrong, I can keep coming back to Singapore before my 60 days are up and re-apply for a new 60 day visa at the embassy indefinately. As long as the application is done in any Thailand embassy outside the country. People who leave and just re-enter on the 30 day chop can't do this and are subject to the 90 day rule. Is this correct? I'm not sure if I have interpreted right. Can anyone clarify this for me?

That is correct - but at some point a Consulate may start to say don't come back to this location. You are not supposed to "relocate" using tourist visa.

Yes you are correct. But getting them indefinitely is up to the whims of the consulate. Some consulates will only issue two and then they give warning stamps telling you not to come back to that consulate again for a visa. Some consulates require that you have a ticket leaving Thailand. Some consulates will give double entry tourist visas.

Another option is to study Thai. You could get a visa that is good for 3 months, but could be extended 90 days at a time if you are still attending classes.

Will you be working while in Thailand? If so, you will need a work permit. And if your job qualified, you could get a one year extension of stay at immigration.

I do not know about your finances but if you have been living in Singapore, you might have the funds to purchase a Thailand Elite card that would get you a 5 year visa as part of its benefits. Costs 1.5million baht.

Thanks for the feedback. My job is in the aviation field and I have contacts in 1-2-Go airlines so it may be possible that I can get the sort of visa that allows business only and not business and work. I'll look into it when I get ovr there next month. Thanks again!

There are no visas that allow you to work.

You will need a Non Immigrant Visa (:oAND a work permit.

1-2-Go should organise the Work Permit and then you can easily get the visa to go with it.
