Changing Flights In Singapore And Kuala Lumpur.

Featured Replies

We are flying Tiger to Perth via Singapore and returning from the Gold Coast to Bangkok on Air Asia via KL. I’m under the impression even though we are in transit we have to clear immigration, collect our bags and re-check at both locations. I’ve allowed 4 hours.

Questions:

Is this enough time?

Are there any special visa requirements for both Thai and Aus Passport holders?

Is there anything else we should know?

Thank you

There are no visa restrictions but are you sure you have to clear immigration?

In Singapore 4 hours is well enough.

Provided you are AirAsia all the way on return leg 4 hours is plenty at KL LCCT. AFAIK you have to clear immigration at KL because there is no transit facilities at LCCT but neither Aus or Thai pp holders need a visa for Malaysia.

as above, no visa-issues.

TR uses SIN"special lowbudget'' terminal and does not offer any through-check-in, so you do need to get out=pass immigr [and fill in a card which asks for your placetostay....), collect all packs, use shuttlebus to main terminal, and check-in anew. If incoming flight is late (TR has no rep. for that, though), it willbe a near-miss. Be lucky that you did not choose a 2-airline switch at KLUL, as AirAsia there has also its special low-cost terminal some 15/20 mins by bus away from the main and quite beautiful main termianl.

I like KL airport
